Samsung Galaxy S10 5G Available Starting April 5, Korea First In Line

Samsung has announced both the price tag and release date of the Galaxy S10 5G, its very first 5G-enabled smartphone. Samsung has announced that the phone will become available for purchase in Korea starting on April 5.

The Galaxy S10 5G is already available for pre-order from the company’s carrier partners in the country, and the phone comes in two variants. The 256GB Galaxy S10 5G is priced at 1.39 million won ($1,231), while it will be available in Crown Silver, Majestic Black, and Royal Gold color variants. The 512GB storage variant carries a price tag of 1.55 million won ($1,366), and it is available in Crown Silver and Majestic Black color variants.

The availability of the device in Korea indicates that its global release may follow in the near future. The Galaxy S10 5G will become available in many markets around the world, but considering 5G is still not commercially available pretty much anywhere, Samsung will probably time the release of the phone carefully, and cooperate with various carriers around the world.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is basically the most powerful variant of the Galaxy S10, if we can say that. The phone is extremely similar to the Galaxy S10+, but it comes with a larger display, and it includes an extra camera on the back. This phone was announced with the other three Galaxy S10 devices in February, and it features four horizontally-aligned cameras on the back, three identical sensors as on the Galaxy S10+, plus a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is made out of metal and glass, while its features a curved 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display on the front. The company’s official spec sheet claims that the device will ship in both Exynos 9820 and Snapdragon 855 variants, while it also says that RAM and storage variant will be market dependent, same goes for the phone’s SoC.

The Galaxy S10+ comes with two front-facing cameras, which are presented as display holes on the front, but those sensors are not the same as on the Galaxy S10+, more on that later. The Galaxy S10 5G features a 4,500mAh battery on the inside, and 25W wired charging. Fast wireless charging is also enabled here, and so is reverse wireless charging, which Samsung refers to as PowerShare.

On the back of the device, you will find two 12-megapixel cameras, one 16-megapixel sensor, and a ToF camera. A fingerprint scanner is included in the package as well, but it is located under the phone’s display, and this is an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that we’re looking at here. Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on this phone, along with Samsung’s One UI Android overlay.

The Galaxy S10 5G is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, while it supports Samsung Pay, for electronic payments. On the front, you’ll find a 10-megapixel camera, in addition to a second ToF sensor for depth perception. The phone includes stereo speakers, and audio on the phone is tuned by AKG. A 3.5mm headphone jack is included on this phone as well, as is on every other Galaxy S10 handset.
