LG Opts For A Last-Minute V50 ThinQ Delay, Blames 5G

It was announced a while back that the LG V50 ThinQ 5G will become available on April 19, but it seems like LG has decided to postpone its launch. The device was supposed to on sale in Korea on the said date, but LG has just announced that it won’t happen.

The company said that it is doing this in order to optimize the Snapdragon 855 and the Snapdragon X50 5G modem’s functions and network interoperability LTE network. It is doing this in hopes to avoid any network-related issues once the phone reaches consumers.

The company also stated that it is working closely with Qualcomm and Korean mobile operators in order to improve its 5G service and the V50 ThinQ 5G’s interoperability, and that includes software, hardware, and network. LG did not announce a new release date, so we’ll just have to wait in order to find out when will the V50 ThinQ 5G launch.

The LG V50 ThinQ 5G’s release date was announced earlier this month, while LG also said that the phone will be priced at the equivalent of $1,050. The company also said that the secondary screen will be bundled with the device throughout April, at least in Korea, and that it will be available for purchase later on for around $195.

The phone itself was officially announced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona back in February. The phone is made out of metal and glass, and it does come with a rather noticeable display notch, which does have its purpose.

The device includes a regular, capacitive fingerprint scanner on the back, and three cameras above it. Two cameras are included on the phone’s front side, while stereo speakers are also a part of the package. The phone has really thin bezels, while its bottom bezel is slightly thicker than the side bezels.

The LG V50 ThinQ 5G features a 6.4-inch QHD+ P-OLED display, while the phone is both IP68 and MIL-STD-810G certified, so it’s tougher than it looks and it’s also both water and dust resistant.

The Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor fuels the LG V50 ThinQ 5G, while the phone includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on this device, along with LG’s custom Android overlay. A single 16-megapixel, and two 12-megapixel cameras are included on the back of the phone, while 8 and 5-megapixel units sit on the phone’s front side.

A 3.5mm headphone jack is included on the phone as well, while a microSD card slot is also available for storage expansion up to 512GB. A 4,000mAh battery can be found on the inside of this phone, and it supports 18W wired charging (Quick Charge 3.0). 10W wireless charging is also available, and the same can be said for Bluetooth 5.0.

A delay when it comes to the LG V50 ThinQ 5G’s launch in Korea probably means that the company’s plans for a global launch have also been messed up. LG did not really reveal its global goals just yet, so we’re in the dark either way, but the company will hopefully share more info soon.
