Nubia has announced a new gaming flagship, the Red Magic 3. As its name suggests, this is the third installment of the company’s Red Magic flagship lineup of devices, and this phone definitely looks unique, though kind of similar to previous Red Magic phones.
Different than most, yet similar to its predecessors
The back of this smartphone looks quite interesting, as it did on its predecessors. The phone features RGB lighting on the back, right below its fingerprint scanner. That lighting is presented in the form of a rather long vertically-aligned line. The phone includes a single camera on the back as well, with an LED flash placed above it. The whole back design is quite unique on this phone, and it will be really hard to mistake it for anything else.
The front side of the phone looks rather ordinary, which is not a bad thing, as the phone does not include a display notch nor a display hole on the front. There are some bezels included above and below the display, though that was expected considering this is a gaming smartphone, as it allows you to grip the phone properly.
The Red Magic 3 handset comes with active liquid-cooling with internal turbo fan, and it also has built-in capacitive shoulder triggers with custom mapping. Those triggers allow you to create buttons as on gamepads, so that you have some extra options for gaming. On top of all that, front-facing stereo speakers with DTS:X technology are also included in the package.
A brand new gaming dashboard is available with pro-user settings on this phone, while advanced haptic feedback is also a part of the Red Magic 3. Some of you will also be glad to know that a 3.5mm headphone jack is included at the top of this phone. Considering this is a gaming smartphone, and a flagship gaming smartphone at that, it also includes high-end specifications.
Crazy-high specs
The Red Magic 3 features a 6.65-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor by Qualcomm, and it also includes 6GB / 8GB /12GB of RAM (LPDDR4X) and 64GB / 128GB / 256GB of storage (UFS 2.1).
Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on the device, along with Redmagic OS 2.0, while the phone includes two SIM card slots (2x nano SIM). A 5,000mAh battery is also included here, and it supports 27W fast wired charging.
On the back of the device, you will be able to find a 48-megapixel camera (Sony’s IMX586 sensor, 0.8um pixel size, f/1.75 aperture), while a 16-megapixel camera (f/2.0 aperture) sits on the phone’s front side. The device comes with Bluetooth 5, a Type-C USB port on the bottom, and it measures 171.7 x 78.5 x 9.65mm, while it weighs 215 grams.
