Content creator, Waqar Khan, released a concept of the Samsung Galaxy A90 that visualizes how the smartphone could look like, and the video is based on recent rumors and leaks. Even though Samsung will launch the handset as part of its mid-range Galaxy A lineup, rumors claim that the Galaxy A90 will include some features not found in the company’s flagships.
One of these features is the sliding and rotating mechanism that allows the rear cameras to also function as front-facing selfie shooters. An advantage of this setup is the consistency in the quality of images captured by the handset.
While there are several smartphone offerings that feature pop-up camera modules, the concept render visualizes that the Galaxy A90 will employ a unique setup wherein only the top portion of the handset’s rear panel will slide up. Unlike the OPPO Find X, the two rear cameras of the Galaxy A90 are not hidden within the chassis of the handset and instead, an oval-shaped compartment within the rear panel houses cameras and the LED flash.
Once the sliding mechanism lifts the cameras, the compartment that contains them rotates, allowing the rear cameras to function as selfie camera units as well. While these concept renders are based on recent leaks and rumors, there is still a possibility that Samsung may incorporate a different mechanism for its cameras.
The lack of front-facing cameras allows the Galaxy A90 to sport very thin bezels surrounding the display, and underneath the screen, the handset may sport an in-display fingerprint sensor. Users may see an earpiece above the display, while the power button and the volume rocker are placed on the right side of the smartphone.
While there is limited information about the device’s actual design and specifications, recent leaks already confirmed some of the design elements of the Galaxy A90. Samsung Indonesia recently confirmed that the Galaxy A90 will feature a notch-less Infinity display, in contrast to other, recently-released Galaxy A devices. To allow for the Galaxy A90 to sport a notchless display, the handset will utilize the sliding camera module.
If rumors are correct, the Galaxy A90 will likely be the first handset from Samsung Electronics that will feature pop-up cameras. This device also continues the trend of the South Korean tech giant incorporating hardware features into the handsets of its mid-range Galaxy A lineup before it appears to more premium devices, similar to what Samsung did with display cutouts, which first launched on the Galaxy A8s. Whether the company will incorporate the same feature into its more expensive handsets will likely depend on the consumer’s response to the Galaxy A90.
It is not yet clear when the smartphone manufacturer will unveil the Galaxy A90, although there is a possibility that Samsung may announce the handset along with other Galaxy A devices in an event that will take place on April 10th.
