Google is expected to announce its Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones later today, and while we’re waiting for that to happen, Roland Quandt has shared a number of seemingly official renders which are showing these two phones.
Mr. Quandt, as most of you know, is a well-known tipster, and he did share these two phones in two color variants, Just Black and Clearly White. A third color option will be available, according to leaks, a “Purple-ish” color variant, which will actually resemble the white color option, at least if leaks are to be believed.
In any case, these renders do prove that the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will look basically the same, though the Pixel 3a XL will be a bit larger due to the size of its display, and that’s something we’ll talk about in a minute.
As you can see, the Just Black variant combines black and dark gray colors, while the Clearly White option mixes white and light gray colors. This is something people are already used to, as neither of these two color options is new, per se, as the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are available in these variants.
Speaking of which, the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will resemble the Pixel 3 quite a bit. The back side on these two devices will look basically identical to the back side on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, while the two phones will not include a display notch like the Pixel 3 XL, but will include bezels above and below the display, similar to the Pixel 3.
A single camera and a capacitive fingerprint scanner will be located on the back of the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, while a small glass plate will be included on the back for design purposes. We’re presuming that this is glass, as it is on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a XL, but it’s possible that Google will opt for plastic instead, we’ll see.
The Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are both expected to ship with the Snapdragon 670 64-bit octa-core processor, even though some rumors suggested that the Pixel 3a XL may include the Snapdragon 710. In any case, both of these devices will include a mid-range processor from Qualcomm.
The two devices will ship with 4GB of RAM, while 64GB and 128GB storage variants will be available, at least that’s what leaks have been saying. The Pixel 3a will feature a 5.6-inch display, while the Pixel 3a XL will sport a 6-inch panel. Both of those displays will be fullHD+ OLED units.
A 12.2-megapixel camera will be included on the back of both phones, and that is the same sensor that Google placed in the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Android 9 Pie will come pre-installed on both devices, and we’re looking at stock Android here, of course. Both phones will be made out of polycarbonate, while an 8-megapixel camera is expected to sit on the front side of both phones. These two phones will debut later today during the Google I/O keynote, at least that’s what is expected to happen.
