Hisense has now officially launched its latest TV options powered by Android TV.
Overall, the new new models are broken down into the Hisense H8F series and the Hisense H9F series.
Of the two, the Hisense H8F is the more affordable series and is the only one you can buy today. The Hisense H9F models are not due to become available until June.
Both of these new lines were originally announced back in January of this year during CES 2019. At the event, Hisense made it clear it was planning to launch a number of new TVs during 2019 with some running on Android TV and others powered by Roku OS.
As part of the same CES announcement, the company confirmed it will also launch a new Hisense U9F model which is arguably the pinnacle of the company’s Android TV options. It is a top of the line TV, boasting many of the latest specs and features although it does come with a much higher price tag as well, certainly when compared to the two lines announced today.
The price is one of the big selling points with the new Hisense H8F series as the entry-level option features a 50-inch screen and costs just $399.99 in the U.S. From there, the price rises to $499.99 for the 55-inch model and $699.99 for the 65-inch version.
In spite of the low cost, and in addition to utilizing the Android TV platform, all the Hisense H8F models are 4K UHD TVs. These are ULED TVs which although is not OLED, the suggestion is ULED offers a similar experience but at a fraction of the cost.
Hisense argues its ULED technology offers “astounding image and sound optimizations” and this is in part a result of the use of the company’s Hi-View processor. Hisense explains this processor is able to customize various elements of the display (for example, contrast, brightness and so on) to best suit the content currently being viewed, and adapt again as and when the content changes.
Moving beyond the display and the Hisense H8F series also features both Dolby Vision and HDR10 for improved audio, and comes with enough smart integration to appeal to the existing needs of different buyers. For example, these TVs run on a newer version of Android TV and so they also come with a built-in version of Google Assistant. This is in addition to also being certified as a “Works with Alexa” device.
As a result, these TVs are expected to work and play nicely with many Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa-enabled devices buyers might already have in the home.
The Hisense H9F series is certainly a step up compared to the Hisense H8F series as it utilizes Quantum Dot technology and provides wider viewing angles. However, the Hisense H9F Series is also a step up in price with the cheapest model (55-inch) coming in at $699.99 and the most expensive (65-inch) priced at $999.99 in the U.S.
As mentioned, the Hisense H9F Series is also not due to hit store shelves before June, while the Hisense H8F Series is now available to buy from multiple retailers, including Best Buy and Amazon.
