The OnePlus 7 Pro’s display will be certified for HDR10+ content. OnePlus delivered the confirmation earlier today, which was to be expected considering that DisplayMate already gave the display of its upcoming Android phablet an A+ rating, concluding the screen is capable of taking on the very best the smartphone industry currently has to offer.
HDR10+ provides frame-by-frame adjustment for the optimum representation of contrast from the HDR source content, and in order for the phone’s display to take advantage of it, the source needs to offer such content. Not many sources offer HDR10+ content, but that will probably change in the near future.
HDR10+ produces 4,000 nits of peak brightness, which is a considerable increase over HDR10, an increase of 3,000 nits, in fact. HDR10+ is also an open format, and thus easily adoptable by manufacturers and content producers, which is why such content will probably vastly spread in the near future.
The OnePlus 7 Pro will sport a 6.67-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED display which will offer variable refresh rate (60-90Hz), if rumors are to be believed. That display will also be curved, which will make the OnePlus 7 Pro the very first OnePlus-branded smartphone to offer a curved display.
The OnePlus 7 series will also ship with UFS 3.0 flash storage, the company’s CEO confirmed. That will make these devices the very first to ship with UFS 3.0, and that’s not a small feat. The Galaxy Fold was supposed to be the first, but considering that the phone got postponed, it’s up to the OnePlus 7 series to take that role.
The OnePlus 7 Pro will be somewhat larger than the OnePlus 7, at least according to rumors, and both devices are expected to ship with stereo speakers, believe it or not. Not a single OnePlus 7 phone will include IP rating, though, even though they will be water resistant, claims the company.
The OnePlus 7 series will be made out of metal and glass, while it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor. Android 9 Pie will come pre-installed on these devices, along with OnePlus’ OxygenOS Android overlay.
The OnePlus 7 Pro will not include a display notch or hole, as it will ship with a pop-up selfie camera. The phone will be almost completely bezel-less, while you can expect to see three cameras on the back of this phone.
The OnePlus 7 will sport two cameras on the back, and we’re still not sure what it will look like. Some leaks suggested that it will resemble the OnePlus 6T quite a bit, while a separate rumor said it will be identical to the OnePlus 7 Pro in terms of the design, but smaller, and without a curved display.
Whatever the case may be, the OnePlus 7 series will become official on May 14, and that’s when we’ll get all the info, even though more info will almost certainly leak before then, as it has been thus far. OnePlus will actually host several press conferences at the same time, and the devices are expected to become available soon after the launch event, within a week, at least based on the company’s previous launches.
