Nova Launcher Finally Gets Pure Black Night Mode & More

Nova Launcher is one of the most popular launchers for Android, if not the most popular one. In the latest update, TeslaCoil Software finally added a Pure Black theme to the launcher, to the existing Night Mode option.

Night Mode has been available on Nova Launcher for quite some time now, but it’s that dark gray night mode that Google is pushing to its applications, not a pure black one that saves more battery, and looks amazing on OLED displays.

In fact, TeslaCoil Software added more than just a Pure Black mode in this update, you can now choose between three different colors for Night Mode in Nova Launcher. The Dark Gray option is still available, the Pure Black option that we’ve mentioned, and something in-between the two, if you’d like a truly dark gray variant.

All you have to do in order to access these options, is update your Nova Launcher to version 6.1.11, and access Nova Launcher settings. There you will notice the “Night mode” sub-menu, hit that, and you will notice “Background color options”, where three options we’ve mentioned are clearly showcased.

You can even choose where would you like to apply dark theme inside Nova Launcher. There are four options, Search bar, App drawer, Drawer icon, and Folders. Those options were there before, but only for the Dark Gray version of Night Mode, of course. Nova Launcher even allows you to keep Night Mode off during the day on the phone, and let it automatically activate when it gets dark, based on your location.

In addition to adding extra Night Mode options, Nova Launcher’s developer also added a new way to remove home screens, to make things simpler. On top of that, regular bug fixes and optimizations have also been listed in the changelog, but that’s about it.

As you can see, Nova Launcher 6.1.11 update is not exactly feature-heavy, but a Pure Black theme is a rather important addition, considering how many people love Pure Black themes. Nova Launcher has always been about providing a ton of options to users, and that’s exactly what the company delivered via this update.

The update is now rolling out via the Play Store, and this is a stable update, not a beta channel one. The update may arrive to your phone today, or in a couple of days, as this is a staged rollout, as is usually the case with official app updates.

Nova Launcher has been around for a long, long time, and thanks to a ton of options the app offers, plus a bug-free experience it usually offers, many people turned to this launcher. The app holds a 4.6-star rating in the Play Store, and it comes in both free and paid versions. According to the Play Store, over 50 million people installed Nova Launcher, and considering that the next step is 100 million, it’s possible that the real number is anywhere between 50 and 100 million, and the app has been around for ages.
