Nubia X 5G Is A Snapdragon 855 Flagship With Two Displays

The Nubia X was announced back in October last year as the company’s flagships smartphone, and that device is fueled by the Snapdragon 845. Well, the company has now decided to upgrade that phone, as it has announced a new model of the device with the Snapdragon 855 and 5G support.

The official name of this new product is the Nubia X 5G, and it was just announced in China. Changes in the SoC and connectivity departments are the only changes that Nubia made to the phone, as the device still looks the same, and features the same specifications on the inside.

The Nubia X 5G is a very sleek-looking phone, as it has extremely thin bezels, and no display notches or holes. The phone does include a thin “chin” below the display, while the rest of its bezels are barely visible.

This phone actually features two displays, just like the Nubia X. Thanks to that fact, Nubia did not have to include a front-facing camera of any kind, so it managed to avoid notches, display holes, and pop-up camera setups.

The phone uses its dual rear-facing cameras, which we’ll talk about in a second, as its only cameras, and you can use those as selfie snappers as well. The device’s main display measures 6.26 inches, and that is a fullHD+ (2280 x 1080) IPS LCD panel with a 19:9 display aspect ratio. The phone includes 6GB or 8GB of RAM with up to 256GB of internal storage.

On the back, the Nubia X 5G includes a 5.1-inch HD+ (1520 x 720) OLED display, and both of these displays are protected by a sheet of Gorilla Glass 3. This model does come with Android 9 Pie out of the box, unlike the 4G variant which included Android 8.1 Oreo. On top of Android 9 Pie, you’ll find Nubia’s very own skin, Nubia UI 6.

The phone includes 16-megapixel (f/1.8 aperture) and 24-megapixel (f/1.7 aperture) cameras on the back, both of which support PDAF. A 3.5mm headphone jack is not included in the package, but the device supports Bluetooth 5.0. The Nubia X 5G also comes with support for DTS HD sound, and can provide you with 32-bit/384kHz audio.

A 3,800mAh battery is included in the package, same as in the Nubia X, and the phone supports Quick Charge 4 fast charging (18W). The phone has a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and it supports two SIM card slots. You will find two nano SIM card slots inside of this phone, while the device measures 154.1 x 73.30 x 8.4mm, and weighs 181 grams.

Nubia did announce this smartphone in China, at the MWC in Shanghai, but it did not really say how much does the phone cost, nor when will it become available. Nubia is expected to announce such details in the near future, as the phone is expected to go on sale really soon as well. It is still unclear whether the device will be offered in markets outside of China or not, we’ll see.
