Last month, tipster Roland Quandt of Winfuture informed the tech world about upcoming Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ models coming with a new red color paint job. Well, today, the Galaxy S10 series in the new Cardinal Red color is now official.
The new Cardinal Red color is not only for the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+, but also for the more budget-friendly Galaxy S10e. Quandt also obtained photos of the Galaxy S10e with the new red hue.
Samsung brought Burgundy Red models of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9 (including their Plus “siblings”) to market but did not release them in the United States. It released the Burgundy Red Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus in China, for example. Despite this new fancy red color, sources say that Samsung may keep this color native to its home country (Korea) and Europe.
That appears to be the case, as the new Cardinal Red Galaxy S10 series has been made official in Sweden. A European retailer says that the Cardinal Red Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ with 128GB of internal storage will be available in Switzerland this month.
There’s no new evidence on that front at this time, but whispers of a Switzerland availability alongside the new Sweden announcement hint that the Cardinal Red variants may never come stateside.
The Cardinal Red Galaxy S10 series stands out only because of its red hue, with all specs and features remaining the same.
The Galaxy S10 features a 6.1-inch, Dynamic AMOLED display with Quad HD+ screen resolution, Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 855 SoC, 8GB of RAM, 128GB/512GB storage variants dual camera apertures (f/1.5, f/2.4), and a 3,400mAh battery.
The Galaxy S10+, the beefiest model of the three S10s, features a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with Quad HD+ screen resolution, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 SoC, 8GB/12GB RAM variants, dual camera apertures (f/1.5, f/2.4), 128GB/512GB/1TB storage variants, and a 4,100mAh battery.
The 5G-enabled Galaxy S10 boasts a 6.7-inch, Dynamic AMOLED display with Quad HD+ resolution (same as the S10 and S10+), though it has a slightly wider screen.
Alongside of its display, the 5G-enabled S10 shares the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and 8GB of RAM.
256GB and 512GB storage variants are available for the 5G model, and there’s a large 4,500mAh battery under the hood to keep things humming along. All three Galaxy S10 models have varying selfie and rear camera arrangements, though all retain the Ultra-Wide Angle Camera.
Samsung has been updating its cameras to improve low-light photography on the new series since it was announced back in February. Night Mode was a problem in the past on the Galaxy S10, with lots of noise in low light.
Samsung rolled out an update just days ago that is now said to have brought the S10’s phone photography up to the standards of the best phones in the industry.
Additionally, improvements to Night Mode were also added alongside the new ability to use the ultra-wide camera in Night Mode.
A recent update this week allows the Galaxy S10’s ultra-wide camera to work with not only WhatsApp but also many other third-party apps so that users need not worry about sacrificing image quality when using certain popular, non-Samsung apps.
The Korean giant is no stranger to unrolling new colors for its handsets after they have been available for some time, nor is it estranged from using Red colors for its smartphones. Back in 2014, Samsung released a Velvet Red Galaxy Note 4 in South Korea. When the Korean giant released the Galaxy S8 in Burgundy Red, India was the lucky recipient.
