According to a new report, Samsung’s upcoming flagship tablet will ship with an S Pen. This information comes from GalaxyClub.nl, and we are, of course, talking about the Snapdragon 855-powered Galaxy Tab S5 tablet.
The source also notes that the tablet will probably arrive in August, as the Galaxy Tab S4 launched back in August 2018. So, the Galaxy Tab S5 is expected to arrive in the same month as the Galaxy Note10, and this time around, the company will actually include a flagship processor inside it.
As a reminder, the Galaxy Tab S4 was quite a powerful tablet, it still is, but Samsung launched it with the Snapdragon 835 last year, not the Snapdragon 845 that was available at the time. Some consumers got really riled up about it, and it seems like the company is looking to right that wrong this time around. It will be interesting to see how much will it cost, though, as a current-gen flagship processor surely costs quite a bit more than the last-gen one.
The Galaxy Tab S5 is actually expected to ship with the same S Pen, like the Galaxy Note10 series. We currently do not have any info about it, but Samsung will surely look to improve it compared to its predecessor. We will surely get some additional S Pen features this year, while Bluetooth support which launched last year will surely make a comeback.
Some extreme rumors even suggested that the S Pen may include a camera, as a concept design actually did that, but that almost certainly will not happen, even though it would allow Samsung to remove the front-facing camera on the Galaxy Note10.
The source notes that the S Pen will ship with the Galaxy Tab S5, but it admits that the Galaxy Tab S5 name has not been confirmed just yet. That is the logical choice following the Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Tab S5e, though, which is why GalaxyClub.nl refers to it as the Galaxy Tab S5.
The Galaxy Tab S5e, which launched quite recently, does not have an S Pen stylus, which is why some people started doubting the Galaxy Tab S5. Well, it seems like Samsung doesn’t plan to ditch its stylus when it comes to high-end tablets, so there’s no need to worry. Also, the S Pen stylus can be extremely useful on tablets, some would argue that it’s more useful than on the Galaxy Note series.
The Galaxy Tab S5 will launch with SM-T860 and SM-T865 model numbers, which suggests that we’ll get more than one variant of the device. It remains to be seen if Samsung plans to announce the Galaxy Tab S5 in two sizes, perhaps, or does this relate to its connectivity options (Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + 4G LTE).
It is quite possible that Samsung will stick to one size only, as it did with the Galaxy Tab S5. If the company ends up following in the Galaxy Tab S4’s footsteps, we’ll get a 10.X-inch Galaxy Tab S5 tablet. Earlier benchmark listing suggested that the device will include 6GB of RAM, and that it will ship with Android 9 Pie.
