American Dad Fallout Shelter-Style Game Launches This Fall

San Diego Comic Con is going on this week and while you’d think this time is usually reserved for anything and everything that has to do with comics, well you’d be mostly right but in recent years there have been more and more reveals and announcements that surround all manner of media and entertainment, from shows and movies about video games to video games about shows, which really have nothing to do with comics.

That’s the case here, as the co-creator of the show American Dad together with My.Games has announced a Fallout Shelter-style simulation game called American Dad! Apocalypse Soon, and it’ll be coming to mobile devices running on Android and iOS later this year. When exactly? There’s no hard date unfortunately just that it will be sometime this Fall, which means it could be anywhere from the beginning of September to the end of November, and that’s a pretty wide range.

When it comes to the gameplay, one only needs to look at Fallout Shelter to get the basic picture of what the game will be like from a more broad standpoint, but there will be plenty to make the game feel more unique. For instance, there will be “hundreds of missions” that you will have to go through and defeat alien invaders to save your family and of course, mankind.

In fact that’s the general theme of the game. You play CIA agent Stan Smith, the all American dad, and aliens have invaded earth and it’s up to you to stop them. This isn’t something you can do alone or unarmed, so you will have to enlist the help of Roger, everyone’s favorite friendly alien from the show, which you can clone to the point where you have an army of him.

In addition to an army of Roger clones you can craft tons of different types of weapons to help assist you in the fight, including things like blades, bombs, giant hammers, snipers, pistols, and some sort of glove that looks like it might shoot out a deadly gas at your enemies. What it comes down to is that there will be no shortage of weaponry for your to pick up and use so that you can send those aliens back to outer space.

You can even turn the Smith home into a secret hideout that can help protect you all, complete with underground rooms. There’s not a whole lot of additional information about the game just yet, but co-creator of the show Matt Weitzman has stated that he wants to be so addicted to it that he “won’t have the time or inclination to make any new episodes,” which suggests that the game could be a lot of fun especially for fans of the TV series.

There’s no mention of a price for the game but it’s likely that it’ll be a free mobile title with optional in-game purchases, and if you’re keen on giving it a try as soon as possible then you can pre-register for the game now via the Play Store, and doing so will also get you a special in-game reward.
