If you’ve ever wanted Google to deliver beer right to your front door, then you’re in luck, as the Drinkies by Heineken app now supports Google Assistant and allows users to speak to their phones or smart speakers and utter a command that opens up Drinkies to place an order.
There is a fairly big caveat here, and that’s the areas where this particular app are supported. As of right now there is no support for Heineken beer delivery within the US probably due to regulations. Alcohol delivery is legal though in quite a few US states, so there’s always a possibility that Drinkies will someday support users in the US for this service.
As for where you can currently ask Google to open up Drinkies and bring you a nice cold six-pack, the service is currently supported in Mexico, Malaysia, The Netherlands, Egypt, and Vietnam, though it’s also worth noting that it will only be supported in parts of those countries.
If you live in a supported area, asking Google to basically hand you a cold one is as simple as saying Ok Google, or Hey Google, followed up by talk to drinkies. This will open up the app and let you finish off your order for drinks. The app doesn’t just deliver drinks though, it delivers drinks and snacks, so if you’re feeling a little hungry then you can grab something to nibble on while you quench your thirst.
Drinkies by Heineken also doesn’t limit itself to just Heineken beer. While Heineken is certainly a highlighted product, there are tons of other beers the service will let you select from including some from smaller craft brewers, such as Lagunitas. You can even order wine.
With this in mind, you have a veritable selection of different drinks to get your hands on all without having to lift a finger. Drinkies even boasts that deliveries are made within a one-hour time frame so it won’t take to long to get the order you’ve requested, which is a pretty quick turnaround. Similar services in the US can take as long as two hours to deliver food and drinks, so by comparison Drinkies seems pretty quick.
All of that is probably subject to change of course, depending on which area of the supported countries you live in, and how far away your from any of the locations the app picks up the products from. Naturally, like any service of this kind, it requires an ID check for the drinks to be delivered, which goes without saying.
Though Drinkies isn’t supported in the US, a handful of different food delivery apps that are supported in the US do have Google Assistant support in the same way, such as DoorDash, ChowNow, Slice, and Postmates to name a few, meaning you can test everything out first-hand when it comes to letting Google Assistant take charge for your food orders. If you live in one of the supported areas and wanted to give Drinkies a try, you can grab the app from the Play Store to get started.
