Post-it Note is the original sticky note and while things have come a long way when it comes to the methods for how we create little reminders, Post-it notes still have their place whether it’s for making sure you remember to grab the milk on the way home or you’re using notes to brainstorm with colleagues. Post-it Brand finally has an official Android app available, and it’ll even digitize your actual Post-it notes that you have stuck around the home, office, or classroom.
If you’re a fan of Post-it notes and you use them on a daily basis then this app is perfect for you. Digitizing your real life Post-it notes not only makes it possible take these notes with you on the go when you leave wherever the original is, it also helps you keep backups of those notes in case you lose one or accidentally throw it away, a mistake which most people have probably made at least once in their life.
If you have no need to digitize your real life Post-it notes, you can still create new digital ones that you can store in the app and you can edit them as well if something needs changing. Since people often use Post-it notes in collaboration with others, it’s also possible to share your notes in just about any app that accepts sharing files. You can even share the ones that the app digitizes.
If you’re wondering how the digitization works, it’s a pretty simple process. You open the app and tap on the “+” symbol and you’ll see options for creating a new Post-it or sapping a photo. The photo icon opens up the phone’s camera and all you have to do is take a picture of the Post-it note you want to digitize and store within the app. Done.
Even if you rarely ever or never use this feature, it’s no less impressive. You can capture up to 200 individual Post-it notes with a single photo, meaning if you do happen to use Post-it notes in a mass quantity this way when brainstorming or organizing either by yourself or others, this could be an invaluable tool.
The app also has the ability to create different Post-it boards if you need to separate your workflows, but if you for whatever reason ever want to combine them you will have the ability as the app supports joining boards rather easily.
Design-wise the app is basic and understated. There’s not too much floating around to capture your attention. The app is also quite stylish and utilizes eye-pleasing animations for the little things like choosing which colored marker to write with, or selecting which color Post-it note you want to use.
Tap on a marker and you’ll see it grow a little bit taller. Tap on the note button in the bottom left corner and you can bring up the Post-it Brand color wheel that you arc your finger across from one side to the other to cycle through the available colors. For all the app’s strengths there is least one caveat. It doesn’t allow you to create lists like the ones in Google Keep, which is extremely useful for when you go shopping.
You can still however create lists, just not as easily. The app does support typing when you create a Post-it note, so you can simply select this option and type up every item you plan to pick up at the market. Once you’ve placed in your cart or basket, you can just cross it off using the pen. It’s not as seamless as Google Keep’s method but it does work.
