LG has filed a patent for the “LG G8x” not long ago, which suggested that the device may come soon. Rumors started suggesting that the company will introduce that device at IFA in Berlin next month, and the phone has just surfaced in renders (both images and video). On top of that, some spec information reared its head as well.
If you check out the gallery down below, you will find a bunch of CAD-based renders. These images have been provided by OnLeaks and Pricebaba, which had happened with a number of phones in the past.
Solid, but not innovative design
Based on this, the LG G8X will be made out of metal and glass. The phone will include two horizontally-aligned cameras on the back, along with some additional sensors next to them. LG’s branding will be present on the back of the phone as well, while the back will be curved.
The LG G8X will feature a tiny dewdrop notch at the top of its display, and a “chin” below the display. The phone’s display will include rounded corners, while the phone will include physical buttons on both sides. On the right, you’ll be able to find a power / lock key. On the left, the company will include volume up, volume down, and a Google Assistant button. That Google Assistant button will probably be customizable, though.
It seems like this phone’s top and bottom bezels will be a hair thinner than they are on flagships nowadays, but thin nonetheless. The LG G8X is expected to be a successor to the LG G8 ThinQ that launched earlier this year, which means it will be a flagship-grade phone.
The source says that this phone’s display will measure roughly 6.2 inches. The phone will measure 159.3 x 75.8 x 8.5mm, while the source suggests that a fingerprint scanner may be included under the phone’s display. That makes all the sense in the world as it is not visible anywhere else, while fancy face-scanning sensors are also missing.
Its rear cameras will not protrude
What’s interesting here, is the fact that this phone’s rear-facing cameras may end up being flush with the back side of this device. That is not something we see often in smartphones, especially flagships.
The phone’s SIM tray will be placed on the top of the display, while a loudspeaker will be located on the bottom. A Type-C USB port will also sit on the bottom as will a 3.5mm headphone jack. A regular earpiece is also a part of this package, which means that LG will ditch the G8’s Crystal Sound OLED display. For those of you who do not recall, that display vibrates in order to produce sound, with a regular earpiece.
The LG G8X is expected to ship with the Snapdragon 855 or Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, while a QHD+ display will also be included, probably. The source also says that the phone will become official as part of this year’s IFA, with its launch set for August 31. In any case, more info regarding this phone is expected to arrive in the coming weeks, including a more detailed spec sheet, and more information regarding its features.
