LG K40S & K50S Launched With Large Batteries & FullVision Displays

LG has just announced two new smartphones which will debut at IFA 2019 in Berlin. The two devices in question are the LG K40S and K50S. These are the company’s brand new budget smartphones, which is quite clear considering they’re a part of LG’s K series of devices.

The LG K40S and K50S bring better cameras and larger batteries to the table, compared to their predecessors. The K50S actually comes with three cameras on the back, which is not a common thing in its price range.

The LG K40S & K50S look almost the same

The two phones look almost the same. The main difference can be seen on the back, as the LG K40S includes one less camera back there. The LG K40S comes with two horizontally-aligned cameras, while the LG K50S sports three such cameras.

A regular, capacitive fingerprint scanner sits on the back of both phones, along with LG’s branding. An LED flash is included on the back as well, right next to rear-facing cameras. The back side on both phones is curved a bit, on the very edges.

Both devices include four physical buttons. On the right, you’ll find the power / lock key only. On the left, LG included the volume up, and volume down buttons, in addition to the Google Assistant button.

Bezels are not too thick on these two phones, but a rather noticeable “chin” is included below the display. Speaking of which, displays on these two devices feature rounded corners. That is actually a common practice when it comes to modern smartphones.

The LG K50S is a more powerful handset

The LG K40S features a 6.1-inch HD+ FullVision display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone is fueled by an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz, and is equipped with 2GB / 3GB of RAM. The device also includes 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 2TB).

A 3,500mAh battery is included in this smartphone, while the device supports 4G LTE connectivity. 13-megapixel (PDAF) and 5-megapixel (Super Wide Angle) cameras can be found on the back of this device. A single 13-megapixel camera sits on the phone’s front side.

The LG K40S is MIL-STD-810G certified, while it offers DTS:X 3D Surround Sound. Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on this device, while the phone measures 156.3 x 73.9 x 8.6mm. The LG K40S comes in New Aurora Black and New Moroccan Blue colors.

The LG K50S, on the other hand, includes a 6.5-inch HD+ FullVision display with the same aspect ratio. An octa-core SoC clocked at 2.0GHz is included here as well, while the phone features a 4,000mAh battery.

This device includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage (up to 2TB). Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on the phone, while the device does support 4G LTE connectivity. DTS:X 3D Surround Sound is included here as well, while the phone is MIL-STD-810G certified.

13-megapixel (PDAF), 2-megapixel (Depth Sensor), and 5-megapixel (Super Wide Angle) cameras are a part of the package here. A 13-megapixel camera is included on the front, while the phone measures 165.8 x 77.5 x 8.2mm. This handset also comes in New Aurora Black and New Moroccan Blue colors.
