Redmi Note 8 Pro Coming On August 29 With 64MP Camera: Official

Redmi has just announced that the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro will become official on August 29. That essentially means that they will launch on the same day as the Redmi TV, as expected. It was announced a couple of days ago that the Redmi TV will launch on that day, so both announcements are official.

Redmi has confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro are coming via its official Weibo (Chinese social media) page. Interestingly enough, the Redmi 8 has not been mentioned. That’s not all, though, the company also confirmed part of the Redmi Note 8 Pro’s design, and one particular spec for the device.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro will feature a 64MP camera

The Redmi Note 8 Pro will feature a 64-megapixel camera on the back. This is Samsung’s ISOCELL sensor, and even though we knew it’s coming to a Redmi phone, we were not sure on which one. It was safe to assume that it is the Note 8 Pro, but now we have a confirmation for that.

That 64-megapixel camera is actually a sensor aimed at mid-range devices, so it fits perfectly on the Note 8 Pro. Interestingly enough, only the Redmi Note 8 Pro is mentioned for the 64-megapixel camera, so the Redmi Note 8 probably won’t feature it. At least it seems like it.

The Note 8 Pro will not feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. It’s safe to say that now, as the fingerprint scanner is located below the phone’s cameras on the back. This is clearly a regular capacitive fingerprint scanner, by the way.

Speaking of cameras, the device will include three cameras on the back. The main one will be that 64-megapixel sensor that we’ve mentioned, while we don’t have any info regarding the other two. Redmi will probably include a wide-angle camera, and a telephoto one.

The device will clearly be made out of metal and glass, and its cameras and a fingerprint scanner will protrude on the back. An LED flash will be moved to the side, and another sensor is placed below it. It is possible that the phone will feature a fourth camera, a tiny one, perhaps a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor. We’re only guessing here, it’s possible we’re way off.

The phone’s back side will be curved, as you can see in the provided image. All the physical keys will be located on the right, the volume up, volume down, and power / lock buttons. The device probably won’t include a 3.5mm headphone jack, while a Type-C port will be placed on the bottom.

The Redmi Note 8 series specs are still a mystery

As far as other specs are concerned, well, we don’t have that much info. Both the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro are expected to include large displays. Both phones will probably ship with fullHD+ panels, while large battery packs are also expected (with fast charging).

Android 9 Pie will come pre-installed on both devices, and on top of it you’ll get Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 skin. It’s quite possible that both phones will be available in several variants (different RAM and storage options). It is, however, unlikely that Xiaomi will include less than 3GB or 4GB of RAM on these two phones. The Redmi Note 8 Pro will probably go up to 6GB of RAM, maybe even 8GB… we’ll see.

Qualcomm’s mid-range processors will fuel these two phones, but we still do not know which ones. It would be nice if Redmi included the Snapdragon 730 in the Redmi Note 8 Pro, though.
