The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 has a built-in screen protector, when you take it out of the box. This is very similar to the Galaxy Fold, but with one big change. You can remove this screen protector without killing your brand new Galaxy Note 10. That is a big deal.
This is really only news because of the Galaxy Fold. When users started removing the screen protector from the Galaxy Fold, they broke their foldable smartphone. That’s because that piece of plastic was protecting the display – a bit more than it would on a regular smartphone.
Galaxy Note 10 does have a pre-installed screen protector, similar to the Galaxy S10 lineup, however there’s no hole for the fingerprint sensor this time. That means that more people are likely to leave it on the phone longer. Since it doesn’t look so terrible with a circle cut out in the middle of the screen protector.
Samsung does typically put a screen protector on its phones when it starts shipping them. But what has changed this time around, is the fact that it is a quality screen protector. One that you would probably buy with the Galaxy Note 10 and put on yourself. Except, there’s no air bubbles and it’s on right-side up on the Note 10. Since Samsung used its machines to do it.
This is not a tempered glass screen protector. It’s just a plastic one, like the cheap ones you can get from Amazon for a buck or two.
After the Galaxy Fold fiasco, it’s a good thing that Samsung let us know that we could take off these screen protectors. Though, it’s something we’ve been doing with its non-folding phones for years. So it was very unlikely to be an issue with the Galaxy Note 10 series. The difference is the fact that this is not a folding phone, it sports a glass display, like most other smartphones on the market. But the Galaxy Fold was a new plastic display that could fold. And that screen protector was used to keep debris from getting into the display and keep it together.
The Galaxy Note 10 does come with a fair amount of accessories in the box, but there is one thing missing. And that’s a headphone dongle. Unfortunately, you will need to pay extra to get your hands on a headphone dongle for the Galaxy Note 10. Or you could stick with the USB-C AKG headphones that are in the box, or just make the switch over to Bluetooth. The Galaxy Buds work really well with the Galaxy Note 10, as you might expect.
Samsung will start shipping the Galaxy Note 10 next week, with delivery slated for August 23. So we’re still about a week out from the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus actually being in customers hands. Hopefully there isn’t a repeat of the Galaxy Fold – however there’s no new tech here like a folding display to worry about, so it’s unlikely to happen. The Galaxy Note 10 starts at $949 and the Galaxy Note 10 Plus at $1099.
