Sword Art Online Gets New Mobile Game With Classic RPG Elements

Sword Art Online is an immensely popular anime and manga series that has no shortage of video games.

A new game in the franchise is now being released called Sword Art Online Alicization Rising Steel. This will be the latest SAO game and it’ll be another added to those already available on mobile.

The game will also follow another anime title that was just announced by Bandai Namco. Naruto x Boruto Ninja Tribes.

Based On Sword Art Online Season 3

SAO Alicization Rising Steel is based on the popular anime’s third season. If you like the show and the third season in particular, you may find this to be an enjoyable game.

If interested, players can pre-register now by visiting the game’s official Facebook page.

Players Can Expect Classic RPG Elements

Bandai Namco says the game will have classic RPG elements. It doesn’t delve too much into what that means exactly, or what those elements will be.

That being said, classic RPG elements usually includes things like turn-based battles in combat. In addition players should be able to progress their characters, and leveling them up will increase their stats and power.

This is an RPG after all.  Interestingly enough though, Bandai Namco says this will be the first time these types of RPG elements have been used in an SAO mobile game.

For those familiar with SAO and its mobile titles, there are already two available on Android. Sword Art Online: Integral Factor, and Memory Defrag.

Both of these are RPGs, so it’s a little unclear at this time what will make SAO Alicization Rising Steel so different.

Based on the videos Bandai Namco has put out, actual gameplay will incorporate the anime into the game visuals, which is pretty unique compared to the other two games.

The Game Will Have An Auto Feature

SAO Alicization Rising Steel will have an Auto feature it looks like. In the third video below that shows the game system, you can see what looks like the game UI with an “auto” button in the top right corner.

This means players will be able to tap this button and it should move the character for them should they need to take a quick break.

It’s not clear how in-depth the auto feature will be integrated, but it’s there.

Controls Will Be “Streamlined” & There Will Be Pre-Registration Rewards

In addition to the auto feature the game will come with “streamlined controls.” This probably means swipes or gestures for movement instead of a traditional virtual d-pad. Tap movement could also be present as a secondary option.

Bandai Namco has set pre-registration goals for interested players, which means if enough people pre-register to meet each goal rewards will be given out.

There are four goals total. 100K, 200K, 300K, and 400K. After the first goal players will get diamonds to use for purchasing upgrades. This will likely be the game’s premium currency, so you’ll probably want to save them.

If the second goal is met, players will get a special in-game weapon called the Swordcraft Academy Wooden Training Sword. The third goal brings in a special training uniform for both male and female characters.

Lastly, if the fourth goal is met then players will receive A Knights Resolve Alice, which is a more powerful version of the character.
