Vivo NEX 3 5G Will Sport 99.6% Screen-To-Body Ratio: Tipster

The Vivo NEX 3 5G is the company’s upcoming flagship. It seems like this will be the first phone to feature the so-called “Waterfall Display”, which got announced in July. That display actually got revealed by OPPO, but Vivo is its sister company, so… it’s no wonder we’ll see it on Vivo’s phones.

In any case, that display offers extreme curves, and cover most of the phone’s sides. People are already expressing concern as to how will they even be able to use a phone with such a display. That doesn’t seem to bother OPPO or Vivo, as phones equipped with such displays are coming, soon.

99.6-percent screen-to-body ratio

The Vivo NEX 3 5G may become the first phone with such a display. Some information regarding that device got shared on Weibo (Chinese social network), and passed along by Ben Geskin. According to the info that surfaced, the device will include a screen-to-body ratio of 99.6-percent. If that ends up being true, and it probably will, it will feature the highest screen-to-body ratio to date. Not a single phone is even close to that.

The device will also ship with the Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. That SoC is basically the latest and greatest Qualcomm has to offer. Think of it as the Snapdragon 855 on steroids, as the two chips are very similar. The phone is also said to include a 64-megapixel camera, and that is probably a 64-megapixel sensor by Samsung’s ISOCELL. That very same camera will be included in the Redmi Note 8 Pro which is coming soon. It remains to be seen if that will be the Vivo NEX 3’s main camera, though, as that is a mid-range sensor.

4G model is probably coming as well

As the name of this phone says, it will support 5G connectivity. We still do not know if Vivo plans to release a phone with 4G connectivity only, but a 5G variant is coming. Chances are we will see a 4G model as well, though.

In a reply to its main tweet, Ben Geskin also posted a render of the Vivo NEX 3 5G. If you take a look at the provided image above, you will be able to see it for yourself. It is easy to notice that the phone features a waterfall display, and this image brilliantly shows that extreme curve.

The Vivo NEX 3 5G will almost certainly be made out of metal and glass, mostly glass, though. Its frame will almost certainly be made out of metal, but everything else will be covered in glass, pretty much.

Back side design is still a mystery

We still do not know what to expect on the back of the device, as we don’t know how many cameras will it have. We also don’t know what its camera setup will look like. Chances are that the phone will include a single camera on the front, and it remains to be seen how will it be implemented.

The Vivo NEX 3 5G probably will not include a display camera hole, nor a display notch. That means that we’ll either get a pop-up camera, or an under-display camera. Under-display cameras are coming, but the question is, are they ready for primetime. It’s more likely that the Vivo NEX 3 5G will include a pop-up camera, but we’ll have to wait and see.

The phone’s display will be really large, almost certainly over 6.5 inches. This will be either a fullHD+ or a QHD+ panel, and we’re hoping for an OLED display. The phone will include plenty of RAM, we’re guessing at least 8GB, but it remains to be seen.
