It is finally here, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. The Redmi K20 Pro flagship had been introduced way back in May in China, and users have been waiting for a global version ever since. That phone is finally here, though it carries Xiaomi’s branding, not Redmi’s. That is not surprising at all, Redmi is owned by Xiaomi after all.
This was actually an expected naming for the device, as the Xiaomi Mi 9T launched a while back. The Xiaomi Mi 9T is a global variant of the Redmi K20, which is the Redmi K20 Pro’s mid-range sibling.
It is not known why it took the company so long to introduce this phone, but what matters is that it’s here. The Xiaomi Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro feature the same design, and the most important difference lies in their SoCs. The Xiaomi Mi 9T is fueled by the Snapdragon 730, which is a mid-range chip. The Mi 9T Pro, on the other hand, comes with the Snapdragon 855.
The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is identical to the Redmi K20 Pro
The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is completely identical to the Redmi K20 Pro in terms of both design and specs. The only difference comes to its software, as the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro comes with a global build of MIUI 10, Xiaomi’s Android skin.
The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is made out of metal and glass. The device features a curved back side, and it comes with a pop-up selfie camera. Its bezels are extremely thin, and display holes / notches are not a part of the package.
The device’s bottom bezel is a bit thicker than the rest of them, but it’s still extremely thin. This phone’s display features rounded corners, while you will find three cameras on the back of the device. Those three cameras are vertically aligned, and centered, while an LED flash lies below them.
The device has really powerful specs
Xiaomi has included 48-megapixel (primary), 8-megapixel (telephoto), and 13-megapixel (wide-angle, 124.8-degree lens) cameras on the back of this phone. That 48-megapixel sensor is the same on that comes on the OnePlus 7 (Pro), by the way. A 20-megapixel camera is included on the phone’s front side.
This handset features a 6.39-inch fullHD+ Super AMOLED display, along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of storage. The phone includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, and it comes with a 4,000mAh battery. That battery can be charged up using an 18W charger, for fast charging purposes. You will be charging this phone via a Type-C port.
The phone includes an in-display fingerprint scanner, and this is an optical fingerprint scanner, in case you were wondering. The phone even has an LED notification light at the very top of its selfie camera module (at the top of the device).
The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is now available in Europe, via Amazon, and official Xiaomi stores. The 6GB RAM variant with 64GB of storage is priced at €399. That same RAM model with 128GB of storage will set you back €449. The phone comes in three color variants, Glacier Blue, Carbon Black, and Red Flame.
