The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year. Xiaomi is expected to announce it in a couple of months, and some information about the device just surfaced. This info brings some spec details to the table, to take it with a grain of salt. The info was shared via Weibo (Chinese social network), and it remains to be seen how accurate is it.
Snapdragon 855 Plus, 108MP camera & curved display
The source did not say how large the phone’s display is, but it did say that we can expect a curved QHD+ panel. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 Plus processor has also been mentioned, along with a clock speed of 2.96GHz. The Snapdragon 855 Plus was announced by Qualcomm not long ago, as an upgrade to the Snapdragon 855. Both of those are flagship chips, and are quite similar.
The source also notes that the Mi MIX 4 will include 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The Mi MIX 4 will include UFS 3.0 flash storage, if the provided info is to be believed. This was to be expected, as the OnePlus 7 series phones use it, as well as the Galaxy Note 10 series.
Large battery & fast charging
A 4,500mAh battery will power the Mi MIX 4, if the leaked info is anything to go by. Xiaomi will also include 30W wired fast charging, while wireless charging will also be included. The source does not state how fast will the wireless charging be, though. The Xiaomi Mi 9 supports 20W wireless charging, the fastest one available right now, so the Mi MIX 4 may support it as well. Reverse wireless charging may be included as well.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 will allegedly sport four cameras on the back. The phone will include a 108-megapixel main camera, provided by Samsung’s ISOCELL. In addition to that, 16 and 12-megapixel cameras will be included, as well as a periscope lens. The source did not provide any info regarding a front-facing camera.
An NFC chip will also be a part of the package, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. The source claims that Xiaomi plans to continue using ceramic in the Mi MIX series build. This is a good thing, as ceramic is tougher than glass, though it’s also heavier.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 may become one of the first smartphones to ship with Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 OS, though we’re only guessing. Xiaomi still hasn’t announced MIUI 11, though that announcement is expected to come soon.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 may arrive in October
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 was announced in October last year, so the Mi MIX 4 may follow in October this year. That is if Xiaomi doesn’t change its release cycle somehow, of course. The company will probably announce both 4G and 5G variants of the Mi MIX 4, though the 5G model may arrive later on.
The device will sport really thin bezels, we know that much. We do not know what exactly to expect in the design department, though. The Mi MIX 4 still did not leak, at least not in a legit image, so we’re waiting for that to happen. We don’t know if Xiaomi will opt for a pop-up camera, display camera hole, or perhaps opt to include an under-display camera on this phone. That is a possibility as Xiaomi has been testing such tech, and has already shown its prototype smartphone.
