Huawei today unveiled its new router at IFA 2019 in Berlin. Dubbed WiFi Q2 Pro, the router is an upgraded version of the Huawei WiFi Q2 launched in January last year. The new Wi-Fi system comes with two parent-child routers and supports up to 15 add-on access points. This ensures consistent Wi-Fi coverage no matter the size of your flat or mansion. Huawei is claiming a performance increase of around 50-percent to 120-percent in the WiFi Q2 Pro.
The WiFi Q2 Pro was initially launched in China in March this year. Huawei has now announced the global availability of the Wi-Fi system. The company, however, hasn’t yet disclosed the pricing and availability details of the WiFi Q2 Pro. In China, the router is priced at 799 Yuan, which roughly converts to $115. Expect similar pricing in other parts of the world as well.
Huawei WiFi Q2 Pro
The WiFi Q2 Pro uses Huawei’s Gigahome 5630 gigabit PLC modem chip and PLC Turbo technology. The system greatly improves interference suppression for PLC networks, providing fast data transfer rates and low latency. Huawei says that the Q2 Pro router can expand a 200 Mbps broadband effectively throughout the network.
The router supports true dual-band and can also automatically switch to the Wi-Fi band with the strongest signal.
Huawei also touts AI capabilities in WiFi Q2 Pro. The company says that it learns and adapts to the changing Wi-Fi environment every day and optimizes Wi-Fi channels to prevent interference from nearby signals. The router will actively remember your online surfing habits to understand and support you for more efficiency in daily tasks.
The 3 Pack Hybrid version of the Q2 Pro utilizes 5 GHz mesh Wi-Fi technology and hybrid networking of PLC and Wi-Fi networks. Huawei promises a theoretical connection speed of up to 1,867 Mbps with the system.
This version is designed for households with a fast broadband connection.
The WiFi Q2 Pro is a plug-and-play system, which enables a simple hassle-free configuration. Just configure the base router and plug in up to 15 satellite routers in areas with low signal. Now you’re all set to start enjoying a faster Wi-Fi network. There’s also an automatic network port identification technology that saves users from confusing with WAN and LAN ports.
And to make internet access faster and easier, the base router automatically shares the Wi-Fi name password with a new satellite router.
IPv6 support for increased security
The new Huawei WiFi Q2 Pro supports IPv6 network communication protocol, which promises enhanced user privacy and network security compared to yesteryear’s IPv4 protocol. IPv6 guarantees top-grade security on the router, as well as the peripheral devices. Other security features include anti-brute force algorithms, WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK Wi-Fi encryption, firewall, DMZ, PAP / CHAP, DMZ / DoS attack protection.
The Huawei WiFi Q2 Pro router also supports remote management via the Huawei Smart Home App. You can set speed limits, allow guest connections, set Wi-Fi timing or pause connectivity through the app.
