Motorola Announces Moto e6 Plus With Dual Cameras

Motorola’s latest e-series smartphone is the Moto e6 Plus, officially announced today during IFA 2019.

In many cases the Moto e6 Plus encompasses everything Motorola has sought to evoke with its mid-range line. It also has some improvements over past models.

A dual camera array on the back is one of those improvements.

Top shelf features but not a top shelf price

Most of Motorola’s phones in the past few years have been pretty affordable, even ones at the high-end.

It’s mid-range phones are even more affordable, yet tend not to skimp on features or function. This is all according to Motorola’s beliefs. Beliefs that state “top shelf features don’t need to come with a top shelf price tag.”

The Moto e6 Plus seems to be an embodiment of that mantra. For starters, the dual camera system on the back comes with a 13-megapixel main sensor. That’s accompanied by a secondary 2-megapixel depth sensor.

In addition to the dual cameras it comes with an almost edge-to-edge display. There’s a small notch for the front camera, which is 8-megapixels, as well as a fairly slim bezel at the bottom.

The display’s size comes in at 6.1-inches, and is a slightly bigger version of the Max Vision display on the Moto e5 Plus which is 6-inches. The phone also comes with Android 9 Pie and an octa-core processor.

Up your selfie game

Motorola wants you to up your selfie game. It’s attempting to help you do that with the soft screen flash on the Moto e6 Plus. According to Motorola this will improve the detail of images when you’re trying to take selfies in dimly lit rooms.

You can unlock the phone with a fingerprint scanner or facial recognition

Passwords are a thing of the past. At least when it comes to unlocking smartphones it seems. These days, most phones come with alternative ways for unlocking them.

The Moto e6 Plus is no different. Motorola has packed in a fingerprint scanner for use on the back. And, if you prefer you can use the facial recognition on the front for unlocking the phone instead.

The phone also comes running on Androi 9 Pie, has a 3,000mAh battery inside and it comes in four colors. Those include Bright Cherry, Polished Graphite, Caribbean Blue, and Rich Cranberry.

There’s no word yet on a US release date, but it is currently available in Latin America. It’s also launching in Europe later this month for €139.
