Need For Speed Heat is coming, and in preparation, EA added a new feature to the companion app.
The companion app itself is called Need For Speed Heat Studio and launched last month. The new feature adds AR capabilities, allowing users to showcase their creations.
Need For Speed, now with environment integration
Need For Speed has always been primarily about racing. A big underlying cornerstone of the experience of every game in the franchise though is car customization.
That customization is easier than ever thanks to the new augmented reality features in the app. Environment integration is part of that.
Specifically, once players customize a car they can drop it into the real world. The environment integration helps blend it in as much as possible with elements like shadows and reflections.
This allows for a fun and unique take on the app experience that lets users show off their favorite rides in real world settings.
Though not the same, it has a similar effect to the photo mode in the Need For Speed reboot game for console and PCs that launched back in 2015. Simply pick a cool spot for your car, drop it in, and snap a picture.
Cars can be scaled, rotated, and shared on social
Sharing is caring. That’s why users will have the opportunity to share their augmented reality snapshots on social media.
To make sure things look perfect, the AR feature offers scaling capabilities. Users are able to increase or decrease the size of the car to fit their needs whether they want it to be actual size or small like a model car. Cars can even be rotated so you can show it off from the front, back, and sides.
Because of the rotation and scaling features, there’s a big level of versatility in how you can make things look. Place it on your desk and scale it down, or place it on the top level of a parking garage and scale it up.
If you’re a NFS fan and enjoy the customization aspect of the game, this is an app you’ll want to check out especially now with the augmented reality feature. Need For Speed Heat Studio is free and it doesn’t have in-app purchases. It also ties to your game account so you can share customizations with the game once it launches in November.
If you’re looking to give NFS Heat Studio a try you can currently grab it from Google Play.
