Nokia 6.2 & Nokia 7.2 Announced With HDR 10 Display and Triple Cameras

HMD Global updated its mid-tier lineup with the Nokia 6.2 and the Nokia 7.2 during IFA. Design-wise, the phones are largely the same. The differentiating factors are the front and rear cameras and the chipsets.

Nokia 6.2 and the Nokia 7.2 Get A Classy Design And PureDisplay Technology

Both the Nokia 6.2 and the Nokia 7.2 sport a 6.3-inch FHD+ notched display panel with the company’s PureDisplay technology.

Although the displays already support HDR10, the PureDisplay technology also lets them scale SDR content into HDR. Other than that, this technology also improves color accuracy and range.

The phones chassis are made of a polymer composite. The front and rear panels are protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. The back of the devices are pretty flat and the edges are curved. A fingerprint scanner is also housed at the back just below the circular camera setup.

Both the phones feature USB-C and the headphone jack has also been retained. Other than the usual power and volume keys, the phones also have buttons for launching the Google Assistant.

Both the handsets pack in 3,500mAh batteries with support for 10W charging. Other common features include NFC, FM radio, and Bluetooth 5.0 with Qualcomm aptX audio. Both the handsets will come pre-installed with Android 9 Pie.

HMD Global has promised that they will be upgraded to Android 10 in the future. The phones will get OS upgrades for two years and security updates for three years.

Both Phones Will Be Available By The End Of The Month

The Nokia 6.2 is fueled by the Qualcomm 636 chipset, while the Nokia 7.2 is powered by the Qualcomm 660 SoC. The 6.2 will be available in a 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM variant and a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage version.

The 7.2 will come in a 4GM RAM and 64GB native memory model and a 6GB RAM and 128GB memory model. The less beefy of the two phones, the Nokia 6.2 is also weaker in the camera department.

It has a primary 16-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel sensor with a 118-degree wide-angle lens, and a 5-megapixel  depth sensor. The selfie camera has an 8-megapixel sensor. The phone is also capable of image fusion and stacking for Night mode and HDR shots.

The 7.2 inherits the 6.2’s 8-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors but gets a better half-inch 48-megapixel primary sensor. For this phone, the Nokia also teamed up with ZEISS for three bokeh modes, namely Smooth, Modern, and Swirl.

Image stacking and fusion are also a part of the package, but additionally, this one also offers pixel binning. This will allow for better low-resolution shots in low light environments. The front 20-megapixels camera also gets a ZEISS lens and pixel binning for better photos.

The phones will be offered in Charcoal and Ice color options, and the Nokia 7.2 will also get a third Cyan Green option. Additionally, the phone will also boast a frosted-glass rear panel. Both the smartphones will go on sale towards the end of September. The price of Nokia 6.2 will start at 209 euros.

HMD Global is releasing the 6.2 in the U.S. as well but it hasn’t mentioned a release date or price. The Nokia 7.2’s entry-level model will cost $349.
