Those of you who are planning to purchase a gaming smartphone in the near future are in luck. Another option will soon become available, in the form of the Nubia Red Magic 3S. The company has announced that the phone will commence its global rollout on October 16. As a reminder, this phone was originally announced earlier this month.
The Nubia Red Magic 3S coming to the US, Europe, Canada & more
The company said that the Nubia Red Magic 3S will hit the US, Europe, Canada, the UK, Australia, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Macao on the said date. It will be available via Red Magic’s official website, redmagic.gg.
The company has also announced “3S Challenges” campaign, which will offer you a chance to win the Nubia Red Magic 3S. On top of that, the company is also offering you a chance to win some Google Play gift cards, and other awards. “Early Bird Rewards” will also be available from October 9 to October 16 on the company’s website.
The Red Magic 3S does have a rather unique design. Similar to other Red Magic smartphones, but different to what other smartphones offer. The phone includes a single camera on the back, and a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The device does not feature a display notch or display hole, but instead has bezels above and below the display. Those bezels are not that thick, though.
Active cooling system included, it utilizes liquid cooling technology
The Red Magic 3S includes an active cooling system which utilizes liquid cooling technology. It also has an internal turbo fan with upgraded air inlet, which makes cooling more efficient. Game Space 2.1 app allows you to organize and quick-launch games. You can also fine-tune the performance of the phone’s fans, monitor temperature this way, and so on.
This smartphone also offers touch-sensitive shoulder triggers, to mimic shoulder buttons from gamepads. You can custom-map these buttons to suit your needs. You can also tweak RGB lighting that is available on the back of the phone.
The Nubia Red Magic 3S is a gaming smartphone, and thus it’s very powerful. The phone is fueled by Qualcomm’s most powerful processor, the Snapdragon 855 Plus. It comes in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants (LPDDR4X RAM), and 128GB / 256GB of UFS 3.0 flash storage.
Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on this phone, along with Red Magic OS 2.1. Two SIM card slots are included here (2x nano SIM), while the phone supports dual 4G LTE with VoLTE. Bluetooth 5.0 is also a part of the package, as is an audio jack.
Front-facing stereo speakers, 5,000mAh battery & 18W charging
The Red Magic 3S includes front-facing stereo speakers, with DTS:X support. A 5,000mAh battery is also included here, and it supports 18W wired charging (Quick Charge 4.0) and USB-PD fast charging.
A 48-megapixel camera (Sony’s IMX586 sensor, 0.8um pixel size, f/1.75 aperture) sits on the back of the phone. A single 16-megapixel camera (f/2.0 aperture lens) is included on the phone’s front side.
The phone measures 171.7 x 78.5 x 9.65mm, and weighs 215 grams. This is not one of the lightest smartphones in the market, but it sure is one of the most powerful ones.
The Red Magic 3S will be available in Eclipse Black, Mecha Silver, and Cyber Shade color variants. We still do not know how much the phone will cost, as pricing details will be announced on October 16.
