The OPPO Reno Ace will become official as OPPO’s new flagship on October 10. The phone will be announced in both China and London on that day, and some renders have just surfaced.
These images have been published by 91mobiles, and have been provided by “a trusted source”. The first thing you’ll probably notice here is that notch at the top of the display.
The OPPO Reno Ace will feature a display notch after all
Very few people expected a notch to be a part of the OPPO Reno Ace’s design, but it seems like it will be. A sketchy render did surface recently, showing off that waterdrop notch, though.
In any case, two renders are now available in the gallery down below. Aside from that notch, the phone will resemble the OPPO Reno 2 quite a bit.
As you can see, it will be made out of metal and glass, with a curved back. It will also include four cameras on the back, and those cameras will be vertically-aligned. A similar design to that on the Reno 2.
The phone’s bezels will be quite thin, the bottom one will be a hair thinner than the rest. The power / lock button is located on the right, while the volume up and down buttons sit on the left.
The OPPO Reno 2, for those of you who do not know, has a pop-up camera. The phone got announced with a sharkfin pop-up camera, and many people thought we’ll see the same thing on the Reno Ace.
A flagship device with 65W charging and 90Hz display?
So, some of you are probably wondering why OPPO opted for a notch on a flagship phone, when its mid-rangers don’t have it? Well, this may not be a flagship-grade device at all, according to the source, though that doesn’t make much sense.
According to 91mobiles, the OPPO Reno Ace will be a “mid-range device”, despite its crazy charging tech. The OPPO Reno Ace will support 65W wired charging that OPPO announced recently.
On top of that charging, the phone is rumored to sport a 90Hz display. Those are specs for a flagship, not a mid-ranger, right? Well, yes, and we still think it will be.
The phone got certified with the Snapdragon 855 Plus not long ago, and that is something that the source is mentioning as well. Therefore, the “mid-range device” tag really doesn’t add up. On top of that, OPPO would not organize a press conference in London for a mid-range phone.
In any case, the phone got certified with a 6.5-inch fullHD+ display, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. On top of that, the certification document also confirmed 48, 13, 8, and 2-megapixel cameras for this smartphone.
