Samsung’s game streaming app, PlayGalaxy Link, is now available on the Galaxy Note 10.
The service’s website has recently gone live. In addition the app is now available to download on Windows PCs and supported phones.
PlayGalaxy Link is for the Note 10 only for now
The app may be available but you will still need a Galaxy Note 10 to use it.
Samsung has confirmed that more devices will be supported in the future, but for now it’s just the Galaxy Note 10.
Details on the FAQ page of the PlayGalaxy Link website note that other devices will be available soon. It doesn’t mention which devices or what date “soon” is referring to.
Samsung will however probably announce any updates on this particular detail in due time.
You need at least an NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU
Mobile device requirements may be rather strict at the moment, but the PC requirements are a little more forgiving.
You will need at least an NVIDIA GTX 1060 graphics card for the PC to support the Windows version of the app. This isn’t too bad as the GTX 1060 comes in many flavors and it’s been around for a few years.
Pair that with the compatibility of the 1070 and 1080 series cards, as well as anything above it and you have a varied set of options. The AMD Radeon RX550 and above also work.
In addition to the minimum GPU specs, Samsung says you’ll also need an Intel Core i5 or later for the CPU. Rounding out the spec requirements is at least 8GB of DDR4 RAM, as well as Windows 10 and a router that supports 1 gigabyte bandwidth.
It does in fact work on 4G/5G connections
This kind of feature is big for gamers with a Galaxy device. Even bigger since it supports mobile connections.
Back when it was announced, there didn’t seem to be a confirmation on if it would need Wi-Fi to work. While your PC will need to be connected to Wi-Fi or ethernet, phones can work on Wi-Fi or mobile connections.
It’s not just 5G, either, as the FAQ page lists that 4G LTE connections will work as well. This means you can happily start playing a game on your PC at home, and then pause the game and switch to playing on your Note 10 after you leave the house.
All while connected to a cellular network. The app is also free as is the use of it, though you will obviously need to buy any games you want to play.
