Redmi K20 Pro Passes Durability Test With Flying Colors: Video

The Redmi K20 Pro is Redmi’s flagship smartphone which was announced back in May this year. This handset was later re-announced as the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro for global markets.

The two devices are completely identical, save for the fact the Mi 9T Pro comes with Xiaomi’s logo, not Redmi’s. Also, the Mi 9T Pro includes a global version of MIUI 10, naturally.

Having said that, the durability test of the Redmi K20 Pro just surfaced on YouTube. JerryRigEverything YouTube channel managed to get its hands on the device in order to test it out.

This durability test covers four devices

This durability test applies for both the Redmi K20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, as the two phones offer identical hardware. The same can be said for the Redmi K20 and Mi 9T, actually. Those two phones are identical to these two as far as the build is concerned. Specifications are a bit different, but the hardware is not.

This video, in which you can check out the durability test, is embedded down below. The video itself has a duration of about eight minutes.

The Redmi K20 Pro comes with the Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top of its display. In this test, it’s visible that the glass scratched when the source used a level six pick. That goes for the Gorilla Glass 6 as well, by the way.

Pop-up camera housing is made from plastic

The phone’s pop-up camera lens is protected by glass as well, so it shouldn’t scratch as easily. The housing for that camera is made from plastic, by the way, though it doesn’t feel flimsy at all.

The phone’s sides are made out of metal, the same goes for its top and bottom sides. Its buttons are also made from metal. The top of the pop-up camera is made from plastic, though.

All three cameras on the back are protected by glass as well, as is the LED flash. The phone’s in-display fingerprint scanner will work even if you scratch the display pretty bad.

It took the phone’s display quite some time to shut down pixels when exposed to flame. Those pixels did recover when the lighter flame was taken away.

The phone’s pop-up camera can handle some abuse, just like the OnePlus 7 Pro’s pop-up camera. That’s something that is shown in this video as well.

The phone also managed to survive the bend test. The force has been applied from both its back and front sides. The device did bend a bit, but not by much, and everything stayed in place. It also continued working as it should afterwards. All in all, the Redmi K20 Pro did really well in this test.
