Sony WI-1000XM2 Headphones Introduced With Improved Noise Cancelling Capability

The Sony WI-1000XM2 headphones were announced during the ongoing IFA 2019. The new headphones get nearly the same audio technology as the WH-1000XM3 and an all-new processor.

Now, WH-1000XM3 has received solid reviews, and the newly announced one might turn out to be better. Of course, it’s too soon to say that, but on paper, the new earbuds look pretty good.

Sony WI-1000XM2 Can Be Great For People Who Want To Completely Block Out Background Noise

The Sony WI-1000XM2 can cancel out all sorts of ambient noise, thanks to the angled earphones, the Dual Noise Sensor technology, and the new processor.  Called QN1, the power-efficient noise-canceling processor suppresses background noise across a wide range of frequencies efficiently. In fact, Sony says that this is an industry-leading noise-canceling technology.

It also comes with 32-bit Audio Signal Processing, a headphone amplifier, and Digital to Analogue conversion. Together, these will ensure that distortion remains low so that audio playback is of superior quality. There is also an Atmospheric Pressure Optimising function in place to cancel out aircraft cabin noise. With Adaptive Sound Control, the headphone changes sound settings depending on what you are doing.

Inside, there is an HD Hybrid Driver System that has a 9mm dynamic driver and Balanced Armature driver. Sony says this duo is capable of reproducing sound accurately. The headphones also feature a Digital Sound Enhancement Engine HX that will upscale compressed digital music files to offer High-Resolution Audio-like quality.

There is a built-in microphone inside to facilitate hands-free calling. The headphones also support Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. The model is also compatible with the Sony Headphones Connect app to provide a more personalized experience.

The Angled Earphones Guarantee A Stable Fit

Sony hasn’t just worked on background noise cancellation and audio quality, it has also worked on improving the comfort level. It says that the flexible, lightweight silicon neckband and angled earbuds are comfortable enough for all-day use.

The Sony WI-1000XM2 features quick charging, allowing you to juice up the battery in 10 minutes for 80 minutes playtime. The company says that battery life is up to 10 hours.

The earbuds are magnetic and can be snapped together when not in use. This will ensure that they don’t get tangled up. There is a  premium fabric case for storing the headphones and it can also accommodate a USB cable, audio cable, and plug adapter.

The Sony WI-1000XM2 will go on sale in January 2020. It will cost around €330 / £300. The headphones will be available in two colors, black, and silver. Admittedly, the price is a bit on the expensive side but Sony has made a name for itself when it comes to headphones.

The Japanese company is pretty great at noise-canceling and this is one of the top-selling points of its headphones. Otherwise, if sound quality is your main concern, there are other pretty great options in the market too.

Other than introducing the new headphones, Sony has also refreshed its h.Ear range. Moreover, the company also introduced two new Walkmans, the NW-A105B and NW-ZX507B.
