Xiaomi has just announced the fastest wireless charging for smartphones, Mi Charge Turbo. This is 30W wireless fast charging, and the company’s announcement comes from China.
This charging uses an efficient 4:1 direct charging architecture, says Xiaomi. It uses a two-stage charge pump, which makes charging more efficient.
The Mi Charge Turbo generates less heat than the 2:1 architecture, used in 20W charging that is present in the Xiaomi Mi 9.
Fully charge a 4,000mAh battery in 69 minutes
The company says that Mi Charge Turbo can charge up a 4,000mAh battery up to 50-percent in 25 minutes. In order to charge such a battery from 0 to 100-percent, it’ll take you 69 minutes.
Needless to say, this is faster than both 20W and 27W fast wired charging, which is quite a feat by Xiaomi. Xiaomi’s brand new 30W fast wired charging may actually contribute to further development of wireless charging.
Xiaomi’s Mi Charge Turbo also supports high-power wireless reverse charging, which can reach up to 10W. Thanks to this tech, you can charge Bluetooth headsets, electric toothbrushes, smartwatches, smartphones, and various other devices which support wireless charging. This allows you to use a phone equipped with Mi Charge Turbo as a power bank of sorts.
Mi Charge Turbo will debut with the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G
Xiaomi has announced that Mi Charge Turbo will debut really soon. It will be included in the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G. That device will be introduced in Xiaomi’s homeland later this month.
The company also highlighted that the Mi 9 Pro 5G will be capable of charging up the iPhone Xs Max up to 20-percent in only 30 minutes. By doing this, Xiaomi wanted to emphasize the phone’s reverse wireless charging capability.
In addition to announcing Mi Charge Turbo, the company also announced two wireless chargers. One of those chargers uses vertical air-cooling with a power of up to 30W. This means you’ll get improved heat dissipation, along with better viewing and operating angles.
The second charger that the company announced can track the phone’s placement automatically. It comes with a built-in fan, but it tops off at 20W wireless charging. That charger can display the battery power, time, and various other info.
Xiaomi has announced that both of these chargers will go on sale at the same time as the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G.
It is also worth noting that the company has already started testing 40W wireless fast charging technology. We do not know when will it become available, even though some rumors are saying it may debut with the Mi MIX 4. That’s a bit unrealistic as the Mi MIX 4 will arrive before the end of the year, but we’ll see.
