Xiaomi had introduced several new devices earlier today in China. The most eye-catching out of all of them has to be the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha. This is the company’s brand new concept smartphone which managed to surprise quite a few people.
180.6-percent screen-to-body ratio
The Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha is a phone which comes with a whopping 180.6-percent screen to body ratio. Its display wraps all around the phone, leaving very little bezel above and below the display only.
The Mi MIX Alpha is currently in “trial low scale” production, said Xiaomi. The phone is expected to be moved to “large scale production” by the end of the year. We’ve already talked about the phone in our announcement, and we’re here to take a closer look at its specifications.
Xiaomi did not share much spec info during the press conference. The company did, however, share some more info following that event. We still do not have the full picture, but we will share all the info that we do have.
Titanium, ceramic, sapphire glass & a large 7.92-inch display
Xiaomi used both titanium, ceramic, and sapphire glass in creating this smartphone. The phone features a large 7.92-inch fullHD+ (2088 x 2250) “Surround Display”.
This handset is fueled by the Snapdragon 855 Plus 64-bit octa-core processor from Qualcomm. This is the most powerful processor the company has to offer at the moment.
Xiaomi has included 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM inside the device, along with 512GB of UFS 3.0 flash storage. This is the fastest flash storage available in the market.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha features a 4,050mAh battery & 40W fast charging
A 4,050mAh battery is included in the device, and it supports fast charging. The Mi MIX Alpha can fast-charge up to 40W, we’re talking about wired charging. The phone does not seem to support wireless charging.
Two SIM card slots are available here, though. The phone comes with the Snapdragon X50 modem, and it supports 5G connectivity.
We also know that the Mi MIX Alpha is 10.4mm thick, but we don’t have its full dimensions just yet. We also don’t know its weight just yet. MIUI 11 comes pre-installed on the device, probably along with Android 10, though we’re not sure.
An in-display fingerprint scanner is placed under the phone’s display, on the front. On the back, you will notice three vertically-aligned cameras.
The main camera comes from Samsung. It is the ISOCELL Bright MX 108-megapixel sensor (0.8um pixel size). A 12-megapixel secondary camera is included with 1.4um pixel size. The third camera on the back comes with a 20-megapixel Sony IMX350 sensor (1.0um pixel size, 1/2.8” lens). That is pretty much everything we know at this point.
