The Google Pixel 4 leaks just don’t stop coming. With only a day left before Google officially unveils the smartphone, a new leak has thrown some light at its pricing. The Verizon and Sprint models of the Pixel 4 XL will reportedly start at $999.99. The information comes via a Best Buy employee who sent a picture of the pricing to 9to5Google. This pricing is apparently for the 64GB variant of the Pixel 4 XL.
A Canada pricing leak earlier this month had suggested that the Pixel 4 would start at CAD$1,049.95 ($788) for the 64GB variant. The 128GB Pixel 4 and the 64GB Pixel 4 XL both were reported to cost CAD$1,199.95 ($900) at launch.
The same Best Buy employee, who doesn’t want to be named, has also shared some details on the Nest Mini smart speaker. The speaker will launch at $49.99, unchanged from the Home Mini. It will come in four color options which may include blue and red. A quick glance at Google’s Instagram suggests red and blue may well be on the table for some of the products launching tomorrow.
Other products expected at this year’s Made By Google event include a Nest Wifi and the Pixelbook Go. Google may also launch a pair of wireless earbuds. The event starts at 10 am ET on Tuesday, October 15. The entire show will be live-streamed on YouTube.
Google Pixel 4 XL price
The Google Pixel 4 has been the subject of so many leaks over the past few months that there’s little left for surprise. However, one detail about it isn’t completely clear yet – the pricing. The latest leak now appears to reveal that as well.
To recall, the 64GB Pixel 3 was launched at $799 last year, while the 3 XL was priced at $899. So if the latest price leak is accurate, then Google is hiking the price by $100 this time around. It could mean the regular Pixel 4 will be priced at around $899. Clearly, these are going to be expensive phones. An extra rear camera, face recognition and more is lifting the Pixel phone’s price this year.
Google’s re-branded Nest Mini smart speaker, meanwhile, will not see any price change from the previous generation offering. It is going to come in at $49.99, which was also the launch price of the Home Mini.
It is pertinent to mention here that this pricing could simply be placeholders used by Best Buy to mask the real price. Either way, we’ll find out the truth soon.
