Meizu 16T Flagship Unveiled With SD855 SoC, UFS 3.0 & Sleek Design

Meizu has announced its new flagship, the Meizu 16T. This phone has a strong resemblance to a flagship phone the company introduced earlier this year, the Meizu 16s. The two phones look almost the same, while they’re also powered by the very same processor.

This phone has been announced in China, and it is made out of metal and glass. The device has a highly-reflective backplate, and quite a few curves on the back.

Three vertically-aligned cameras are placed on the back of this phone, along with an LED flash. Meizu’s logo is also visible on the back of the device, while all of the phone’s physical keys are on the right.

The Meizu 16T includes a fast in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack

This handset does include an in-display fingerprint scanner, an optical one. Meizu says that this fingerprint scanner has a 30-percent better success rate compared to its predecessor.

Bezels on this phone are extremely thin. Its top and bottom bezels are a hair thinner than its side bezels. One would argue that this is the best choice Meizu could have made, as the company avoided display holes, notches, and pop-up cameras.

The Meizu 16T comes with two stereo speakers, while it also has a linear motor. Despite the fact this phone has such thin bezels. Meizu has opted to retain a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The phone features a 6.5-inch fullHD+ (2232 x 1080) Super AMOLED display with an 18.6:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor fuels this smartphone.

The device includes 6GB / 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB / 256GB of UFS 3.0 flash storage. The phone does not support storage expansion, but it comes with two SIM card slots.

Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on this phone, along with FlymeOS 7. Meizu did note that an upgrade to FlymeOS 8 will be available when users power on the phone. That at least goes for the Chinese variant of this phone, as a global model hasn’t been announced just yet.

The phone features three cameras on the back, and a large battery

12-megapixel (Sony’s IMX362 sensor, f/1.9 aperture), 5-megapixel (Samsung’s 5E9 sensor, f/1.9 aperture), and 8-megapixel (118-degree ultra-wide-angle lens, Samsung’s 4H7 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 2.5cm macro) cameras sit on the back of this phone.

A single 16-megapixel camera (f/2.2 aperture) is included on the phone’s front side. The phone supports dual 4G VoLTE, and Bluetooth 5.0 as well. A 4,500mAh battery is included here as well, along with 18W mCharge fast charging.

The device measures 159.63 x 78.2 x 8.3mm, and weighs 183 grams. The device comes in Green, Orange, and Blue color variants. The variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage costs CNY1,999 ($282), while a model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage can be yours for CNY2,299 ($325). A variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at CNY2,499 ($353). The phone is available to pre-order already, in China, and will go on sale from October 28. The phone will be coming to India, but we don’t know about other markets.
