According to a new rumor, the Samsung Galaxy S11 may feature a periscope camera system. If this ends up being true, Samsung’s upcoming flagship will feature a camera system similar to the one that the Huawei P30 Pro presented earlier this year.
This information comes from Korea. The source claims that ‘MecaTech Systems’ will start supplying Samsung with test sockets for the next Galaxy phone’s folded camera.
MecaTech Systems, for those of you who do not know, is a Korean manufacturer of test sockets for smartphone modules.
The Galaxy S11 will probably feature a periscope camera system
Now, folded cameras indicate periscope-like forms. This is why we think the Galaxy S11 may feature something like the Huawei P30 Pro. Folded cameras make it possible for smartphone OEMs to “hide” the camera lens by inserting it sideways in order to make the camera module less prominent, says Thelec.
The source makes things quite clear. Thelec did not confirm that the Galaxy S11 will feature a periscope camera. It did, however, say that such a camera system is on the way to Samsung’s phones.
Including such a camera system into the Galaxy S11 seems like a logical thing to do. Samsung needs to refresh its S lineup yet again, and the main portion that needs refreshing is the camera segment.
The Galaxy Note 10 has the same camera setup as the Galaxy S10. The Galaxy S10 did not really innovate in that field either, and Samsung needs to pick up the pace.
Including a periscope-style camera which can shoot objects that are far away with considerable clarity may be the feature Samsung is looking for.
The device may offer 5x optical zoom
A recent report suggested that the Galaxy S11 will be able to utilize a 5x optical zoom. Well, a periscope-style camera will certainly enable the phone to shoot great telephoto images, but it remains to be seen what exactly will Samsung implement.
The Samsung Galaxy S11 is rumored to arrive prior to MWC 2020. If a recent rumor is to be believed, the Galaxy S11 may arrive on February 18, five days before MWC 2020.
We may see several Galaxy S11 models yet again. In fact, Samsung may introduce the Galaxy S11, S11+, and S11e, following this year’s models.
The Galaxy S11 series is expected to sport a smaller display camera hole than the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series phones. The Galaxy S11 will probably be made out of metal and glass, and ship with Android 10. QHD+ OLED panels are expected to be included. Samsung will hopefully make a jump to 90Hz with the Galaxy S11, as well.
