LG has announced a new tablet, the LG G Pad 5. This tablet got announced in the company’s homeland, South Korea.
LG actually announced this tablet in two variants, a WiFi only model, and a variant with both WiFi and 4G LTE. This is a 10.1-inch tablet that includes a single camera on the back.
The device does have just enough bezel for you to grip it comfortably, but those bezels are not that thick in tablet standards. All the physical keys are placed on the right of the device. The power / lock button sits quite high on the right side, and right below are the volume up and down buttons.
The display on the LG G Pad 5 does not include rounded corners. We’re looking at regular, sharp corners here, 90-degree corners if you will. A front-facing camera sits right in the middle of the top bezel here.
The LG G Pad 5 is made out of metal, and has two cameras
The device is made out of metal, and you’ll notice that an LED flash is missing here. The device’s rear-facing camera sits in the top-left corner of its back, but without an LED flash.
The LG G Pad 5 features a 10.1-inch fullHD (1920 x 1200) IPS display with 178-degree viewing angles. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core processor fuels the device.
As most of you know, the Snapdragon 821 was once Qualcomm’s flagship SoC, years ago. For some reason, LG decided to go with this chip instead of including one of the current-gen mid-range processors from Qualcomm.
The LG G Pad 5 features 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB of UFS 2.0 internal storage. That storage is expandable via a microSD card (up to 512GB).
An 8-megapixel camera sits on the back of the device, while a 5-megapixel one is included on the front. An 8,200mAh battery is also included in this package, while Quick Charge 3.0 is supported.
Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed, while a 3.5mm headphone jack is included
Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on this tablet, with LG’s custom UI, of course. LG also included a 3.5mm headphone jack here, as well as a Type-C USB port.
Bluetooth 4.2 is a part of the package as well. The device measures 247.2 x 150.7 x 8mm, while it weighs 498 grams.
The LG G Pad 5 comes in a Silver color only. It is priced at 440,000 Korean won ($381), and LG did not say when will it become available. It is expected to go on sale in Korea soon, though. We’ll see if it will become available in more markets.
