Redmi K30 Confirmed To Launch On December 10 With 5G Support

Redmi’s next smartphone will become official on December 10. The company has confirmed that via its official Weibo page, and we’re looking at the Redmi K30 here.

That device has been rumored for quite some time now, and even the Redmi’s General Manager mentioned it recently. The device was also mentioned by Xiaoim’s CEO not long ago as well.

The Redmi K30 confirmed to feature a pill-shaped display camera hole

Along with the announcement date, Redmi has also confirmed the design of the device… well, kind of. The company confirmed part of the Redmi K30 design. As you can see in the provided image, the device will feature a display camera hole.

That camera hole will be pill-shaped, just like the one on the Galaxy S10+. That hole will sit in the same place as on the Galaxy S10+, in the top-right corner of the display. As you can see, two selfie cameras will be included.

We don’t really get to see the bottom part of the phone’s display, but we presume that the phone will have a really thin ‘chin’. That bottom bezel will probably be just a hair thicker than the rest of its bezels.

Based on this image, the Redmi K30 will include a flat display. Now, Redmi is expected to announce more than one Redmi K30 phone. If the company plans to do the same thing as last year, we’ll get to see both the Redmi K30 and K30 Pro.

The device will support 5G connectivity

Another thing that this teaser confirmed is 5G connectivity. It will feature a stand alone and non-stand alone (SA/NSA) sub-6GHz 5G connectivity. It remains to be seen if both 4G and 5G models will be announced, or will Redmi stick to 5G variants only.

The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro were introduced in China back in May, so it has been approximately six months since then. It seems like Redmi is sticking to a 6-month release cycle for its flagships.

The Redmi K30 will probably use the Snapdragon 600 or 700 series processor. Qualcomm did announce expansions of 5G support for those two SoC series chips next year. The Redmi K30 is expected to become available next year, even though it will launch next month. Xiaomi’s CEO did say that the phone will go on sale in January 2020.

The Redmi K30 Pro will be a bit more powerful, but it could feature the very same design. That phone will almost certainly ship with the Snapdragon 865, and it remains to be seen if it will be launched alongside the Redmi K30.

The Redmi K30 specs surfaced recently, suggesting that we’ll get a 6.66-inch fullHD+ display. That display will reportedly offer a 120Hz refresh rate, and utilize the Sony IMX686 image sensor on the back.

A side-mounted fingerprint scanner is also rumored to be included, while Android 10 will come pre-installed on the device. Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 will probably sit on top of Google’s operating system.
