A well-known tipster who is called ‘Ice Universe’ on Twitter, just shared some interesting info. He claims that the Korean Samsung Galaxy S11 will ditch the Exynos 990 processor in favor of the Snapdragon 865.
If true, this is extremely interesting. Samsung’s flagships in Korea have been fueled by Samsung’s processors for years, but it seems like things are changing.
Snapdragon-based flagships from the company have been exclusive for the US, China, and Japan… for a long time. It seems like South Korea will join the ranks, though.

The source did not mention anything about Europe or India, though. So, it seems like the Exynos 990 will still be included in some regions. That is to be expected, as Samsung announced this chip only recently.
It’s quite odd that it is not planning to offer it in its homeland, if this info is accurate. This could signalize a major shift for Samsung.
Samsung’s flagship processors have been really good performers, but in most cases, its Qualcomm-made counterpart had the upper hand. Snapdragon-branded flagship processors did seem to offer better performance in recent years.
This move is not overly surprising as Samsung has decided to shut down its custom CPU division in the US. That report surfaced quite recently, in fact.
We’re not sure what is going on, exactly, but if Samsung ends up not using its flagship processor in the Galaxy S11 in Korea, that could signalize that it is slowly making a shift towards Snapdragon-branded chips. We’re getting ahead of ourselves, though, it remains to be seen what will happen.
Samsung’s next-gen flagships are expected to launch on February 18
The Samsung Galaxy S11 series is expected to arrive in Q1 2020. In fact, a recent rumor suggested that it will become official on February 18 in San Francisco.
That seems to be accurate, as Samsung will almost certainly announce these devices prior to MWC 2020. In addition to the Galaxy S11, the company is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Fold 2.
Samsung will introduce three devices as part of its flagship Galaxy S11 series. The Galaxy S11, S11e, and S11+ are expected to debut.
All three devices will ship with Android 10, and include a display camera hole on the front. That camera hole will be centered, and all three phones will include curved displays.
