Samsung is reportedly all set to bring a first of its kind bezel-less premium TV to the market next year. According to a new report by South Korean news outlet The Elec, the company will unveil the new TV at CES 2020 in Las Vegas next week.
Quoting a source familiar with the developments, The Elec says the new product has received a big go-ahead from Hyun-Suk Kim, President and CEO of Consumer Electronics Division, Samsung.
Several other senior executives were also all praise for this next-gen TV during an internal meeting ahead of the launch.
According to one developer who worked closely on this product, the upcoming Samsung TV literally has zero bezels, unlike other so-called bezel-less TVs that still have some bezels.
The developer suggested that no such product has arrived on the market yet and Samsung is the only company to have this “extreme design” ready for production.
Unfortunately, no other info about this TV is available at the moment. It won’t be a long wait though, as CES 2020 is just around the corner. The 2020 edition of the annual trade show begins on Tuesday, January 7 and runs through Friday, January 10.
Samsung bezel-less TV
In order to achieve a bezel-less design, Samsung has closely welded together the display panel and the main body of the TV, the report says. Local suppliers Shinsegae Engineering and Taehwa Precision provided the South Korean behemoth with equipment needed for the process.
Samsung is looking to make this bezel-less design a standard across all of its premium TVs of size 65-inches or larger. While critics are of concern that such a design may affect the TV’s structural integrity, the company is confident in pulling this off, and in the next year itself. It will reportedly begin the mass production of this bezel-less TV in February 2020.
Samsung already has several “extreme” large-screen products under its belt. The Wall Luxury, which the company offers in different sizes and resolutions, starting from 73-inch in 2K resolution to 292-inch in 8K resolution, is one of those products.
This massive ultra-luxury TV was launched in June earlier this year as an upgraded version of the original The Wall MicroLED TV announced at CES 2018.
Samsung has been the largest TV manufacturer globally since 2006. The company has had a market share of over 20 percent consistently over the years. The numbers often reach upwards of 50 percent when it comes to premium TVs.
So it’s only fitting that Samsung is now making some big advancements in design as well with this new bezel-less premium TV. CES 2020 can’t come soon enough!
