Samsung may soon cross two more names off the list of its smartphones that will receive the Android 10 update. The Galaxy A60 and Galaxy M40 have recently been certified by the Wi-FiAlliance with Android 10 onboard.
While the Wi-Fi Alliance certification doesn’t necessarily mean that the stable Android 10 release is just around the corner, it does indicate that some progress has been made in this regard.
Samsung’s official Android 10 update roadmap has the Galaxy A60 and Galaxy M40 scheduled to get the Android 10-based One UI 2.0 update in April and March 2020, respectively.
However, the company has consistently released Android 10 updates ahead of schedule for most of the devices. The Galaxy A60 and Galaxy M40 are likely to receive the update ahead of the schedule as well.
Galaxy A60 and Galaxy M40 Android 10 update
Samsung is on a roll when it comes to Android 10 updates, at least when compared to previous years. The world’s largest smartphone vendor has already released the latest Android version to most of its eligible Galaxy flagships, with only the Galaxy S9 remaining.
It has also released the update for a few budget smartphones, including the Galaxy M20, M30, and the Galaxy A40s.
However, there’s still a long list of Samsung smartphones yet to receive the Android 10 update. The company is quickly getting into them now. The Galaxy S9, A80, and M30s have all picked up Wi-Fi certifications with Android 10 in the past few weeks.
The Galaxy A60 and Galaxy M40 have now joined them. Both of these devices have been certified with dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz, 5GHz). Samsung is likely to begin rolling out the Android 10 update to some of these devices in the coming weeks.
The Galaxy A60 and Galaxy M40 are pretty much identical devices as they share most of the specs. They also sport the same design, except for a physical Bixby key on the former.
Both of these devices feature a 6.3-inch Infinity-O Full HD+ LCD display and are powered by the Snapdragon 675 chipsets with two Kyro 460 Gold cores clocked at 2.0GHz and six Kyro 460 Silver cores clocked at 1.7GHz.
They offer up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage capacity (expandable by 512GB). There’s a 3,500 mAh battery with 15W charging, and a rear-mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor.
The triple rear camera setup consists of a 32-megapixel F1.7 primary camera, an 8-megapixel 123-degree ultra-wide F2.2 sensor, and a 5-megapixel F2.2 depth sensor for bokeh photography. This is the same camera setup found in the much higher priced Galaxy A70.
