Best Of CES 2020: Audio-Technica ATH-ANC300TW

The time has come to hand out CES 2020 awards, and the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC300TW truly wireless earbuds are one of our winners. These earbuds may have a rather weird name that nobody will remember, but they are amongst the most exciting audio products to come from CES 2020.

Audio-Technica has a great lineup of audio products, and consumers are rarely disappointed by them. That is something that makes these earbuds quite interesting. They are equipped with active noise cancellation, as all premium earbuds should be these days. On top of that, they look really nice, and unique at the same time. There are various other features to note here.

Battery life is not great, mostly because of ANC, but that’s okay

Now, these earbuds are not only small, and look really nice, but offer great build quality. Unfortunately, the fact that they’re so small, and come with active noise cancelation (ANC), they don’t offer great battery life.

You’ll get around 4.5 hours of continuous playback with these. That is not terrible by any means, and in line with an average battery life of truly wireless earbuds. We’re just used to seeing much more from Audio-Technica, not to mention that its competitors have truly wireless earbuds that offer better battery life.

Do note that you can always disable ANC, and get much more from the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC300TW battery life. That is the case with every pair of wireless earbuds that include ANC, of course.

The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC300TW earbuds are amongst audio high points of CES 2020

We have seen many audio products at this year’s CES, but the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC300TW earbuds are definitely amongst the most interesting ones. These earbuds come with a charging case that looks a bit different than what the competition has to offer. This charging case will be able to recharge your earbuds several times before you’ll need to recharge it.

Speaking of recharging, the case itself comes with a Type-C port. That is always worth noting, as many products are still shipping with MicroUSB ports, and that should not be happening at this point in time.

These earbuds also offer support for Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, and their ANC sounds promising. They are analyzing the ambient noise with the built-in microphones. That basically creates inverse soundwaves of those noises, and mixes them with the audio signal from your device.

The company positioned one of the microphones at a rather interesting horizontal orientation, within the sound chamber itself. The company claims that this will offer an “ideal balance of ambient noise reduction, and audio performance”.

On top of everything, it is worth saying that Qualcomm’s TrueWireless Stereo Plus tech is also included in the package. These earbuds will become available this Spring, and if you’d like to know more, check out our original article on them. All in all, the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC300TW truly wireless earbuds are amongst the winners of CES 2020, in our book at least.
