Griffin has announced its new ‘PowerBlock’ fast chargers equipped with Gallium Nitride (GaN) and Power Delivery (PD) tech. The company announced these devices at CES 2020.
Griffin actually announced three fast chargers as part of this series. These fast chargers are “engineered to provide a faster and safer charging experience in a smaller-sized package”.
All three of these devices are wall chargers, and they all come with USB-C ports. Considering these chargers are equipped with Power Delivery (PD), they can charge up compatible devices up to 70-percent faster than standard chargers.

As part of this lineup, Griffin announced PowerBlock 45W, 30W, and 96W wall chargers. Griffin used the same design language for these chargers, but they’re different in size. You can notice that in the provided image above, and in the gallery below.
All three chargers are considerably smaller than their competition with similar specs. These devices offer various safety measures against overcharging, just to prevent accidents from happening. All three chargers will become available in the second quarter of 2020.
The 45W PowerBlock charger comes with a single Type-C port. This charger has folding prongs, which makes it ideal for traveling. That is something all three have in common, though. This charger will be priced at $49.99.
The PowerBlock 30W charger comes with two USB-C ports. It offers slightly slower charging speeds than the one we mentioned earlier. This charger will be priced at $69.99.
The PowerBlock 96W charger is the fastest out of the bunch. This charger will be the most expensive one, as it will cost $79.99.
All three chargers seem to be made out of plastic, as expected. All three will be gray-colored, with orange accents on them.
The company has over 25 years of experience
Griffin is a company that has over 25 years of experience in the business, and it decided to take the next step with these chargers. Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology seems to be the next step when it comes to fast chargers, but we’ll see where things go.
All three of these chargers are on display at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, in case you’re nearby. They will become available in Q2 2020, but the company did not say when exactly.
As far as we know, this is the only color variant that these chargers will be available in. Griffin may add some more options to the fold, though.
