Harman Kardon has made its triumphant return to headphones, with the new FLY series of headphones. Announced at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, Harman Kardon has three new headphones for this series.
There are three models being announced, a Bluetooth pair of headphones, truly wireless and a pair of active noise cancelling headphones. Allowing Harman Kardon to hit the three major headphone types.
The Harman Kardon FLY BT come in at a very affordable price
First up is the FLY BT. This is a pair of Bluetooth headphones. These are earbuds though, so you’re getting over-ear or on-ear headphones here. These are going to cost you $100. That might sound like a lot, for a pair of Bluetooth headphones. But considering most are moving to truly wireless headphones, with price tags north of $200, this is a good “budget” option.
The FLY BT offer up around eight hours of continuous playback. There are 8.6mm drivers in each earbud. Which are actually some fairly large drivers for earbuds. But that’s going to give you some really great sounding audio. These are going to be great headphones to pick up and carry around. As they are small enough to just toss in a bag.
Harman Kardon’s FLY TWS are small but mighty
The FLY TWS are actually pretty small truly wireless headphones. That means that they are going to fit in your ears pretty nicely. And you won’t have to worry about them falling out. These don’t sport a flashy design. Instead they are black with a silver outline on the earbud. In fact, the Harman Kardon branding isn’t even on the earbuds themselves. Making it a really great looking pair of earbuds.
Battery life on the FLY TWS is pretty decent. We’re looking at five hours of continuous playback. And the carrying case can get you up to 15 hours. The carrying case is not large, so giving you just 10 hours of charging isn’t bad. Since you can actually put this in your front jeans pocket.
The FLY TWS work with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa built-in, and they also are rain and sweatproof. The FLY TWS will cost you $149.
Harman Kardon’s over-ear headphones are a good middle-ground
The FLY ANC aren’t quite as good as the other over-ear headphones on the market. Like the Sony WH-1000X M3, or the Bose QuietComfort 35 II. But at $250, they are still pretty impressive.
These sport 40mm drivers and a sound signature that is optimized for travel. Making these a great pair of headphones to pick up for a flight, or a long road trip. There is, of course, active noise cancellation, allowing you to block out the noise around you.
You’re going to get around 20 hours of battery life out of the FLY ANC, and that’s continuous playback with ANC turned on. So if you turn off ANC, you can likely get a few more hours of playback. Finally, these also offer up Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa built-in.
These three pairs of Harman Kardon FLY headphones won’t be available anytime soon. Harman Kardon says that they will launch in Winter 2020.
