Insomnia sufferers in the US will now be able to get their hands on Kokoon Relax headphones, following an announcement about the gadget at the CES 2020 event in Las Vegas. According to Kokoon Technology, the device now ships internationally, including to the US. It’s also now available for purchase on Amazon and select retailers.
Kokoon Relax functions as a normal pair of over-ear Bluetooth headphones. They connect via Bluetooth 4.0
Low Energy and feature 32ohm, 40mm sound drivers that should deliver a listening experience that’s well-above-average. A 500mAh battery backs those up and that should keep playback going for hours on end. And those details should put these headphones on par with some of the best on the market.
But the design and every other aspect of this gadget is intentionally designed to help with insomnia and other sleep issues.
To begin with, the device is built around a larger, shallower design that should be much easier to lay on without discomfort. Kokoon kept the weight at a respectable 350g. That’s without considering the Flexmould Comfort design that’s engineered to conform to the wearer’s head shape. Kokoon utilizes natural fibers on the ear cups themselves as well. That helps air to flow through to keep everything cool despite the inclusion of active noise cancellation.
Better still, the cups are removable and the fabric ensures they can easily be cleaned. Kokoon goes one step further to include a carry case so that they can stay clean when not in use too.
How does Kokoon Relax help you sleep?
Those details about Kokoon Relax already reveal a top of the line device for its somewhat moderate price tag. But they say nothing about these headphone’s EEG or app-based capabilities.
Among the most prominent features of Kokoon Relax are tied into its use of EEG tech. But that’s all integrally linked to the application. The app utilizes a variety of techniques, tracks, and concepts developed by sleep professionals that work to help people fall asleep. Some of the more intensive sessions include talking and an approach known as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Kokoon uses EEG for several key purposes. For starters, the company uses the technology to measure brainwaves, motion, heart rate, and environment. All of those metrics are fed back into the system so that the headphones and app’s AI helps it to adjust and find the appropriate approach for each individual user. In effect, the app learns what really works for the user and adjusts itself accordingly.
Then, Kokoon’s Sleepguard technology works with the information it garners to quieten down and off as the wearer falls asleep.
