Nokia 9.2 PureView Launch Likely Delayed Until Autumn 2020

The Nokia 9.2 PureView is expected to arrive this year, but it may launch later than expected, as its announcement has allegedly been delayed. The Nokia 9.2 PureView, for those of you who do not know, is expected to be a flagship phone.

HMD Global announced the Nokia 9 PureView back in February last year. That phone was delayed a number of times before it finally reached the market. The Nokia 9 PureView was not exactly a smash hit for HMD Global, and the company will be looking to change that with its successor.

The Nokia 9.2 PureView may have been delayed, but this is not official info

Do note that the Nokia 9.2 PureView may get delayed, but that’s not official info at this point. This information comes from the ‘Nokia anew’ Twitter handle.

That very same source shared accurate info in the past, so this may be accurate. The source mentions that the reason behind this delay is Qualcomm’s latest processor, the Snapdragon 865.

HMD Global has been developing the Nokia 9.2 PureView for quite some time, it seems. The phone was not developed with the Snapdragon 865, though. That chip got announced quite recently.

HMD Global is aware that the Nokia 9.2 PureView needs to arrive with the latest flagship SoC. The Nokia 9 PureView included the Snapdragon 845, not the Snapdragon 855, which was a mistake.

At the time the Nokia 9 PureView arrived to the market, flagship phones started arriving with the Snapdragon 855. So, HMD Global had a flagship phone on its hands that does not include the latest SoC.

That was one of the reasons why the phone did not sell so well. It was certainly not the only reason, as the phone had its fair share of problems, but it was one of the main reasons.

The device is quite a mystery at this point

We do not know anything about the Nokia 9.2 PureView at this point. The phone is quite a mystery, and that name hasn’t been confirmed either. The phone may as well be called the 9.1 PureView or 10 PureView when it hits the market.

Chances are that the device will be made out of metal and glass, though. It will ship with Android 10 out of the box, and an OLED display is also expected.

HMD Global is expected to do a better job with the cameras on the device. That PureView branding needs to be deserved. The Nokia 9 PureView was not exactly up to par in that regard, so its successor is expected to deliver.

The device will probably include quite a few cameras on the back. Its design is quite a mystery at this point, though. It is possible that HMD Global plans to talk about the phone at MWC 2020, but not unveil it, if this information is accurate. We’ll see what will happen.
