Nokia's First Foldable Smartphone May Launch By The End Of 2020

Many companies are working on foldable devices, and that includes Nokia. According to the news piece of info, Nokia could announce its first foldable smartphone by the end of 2020.

The very first foldable smartphone from Nokia may arrive by the end of this year

This information comes from Nokiamob, who reports that the device is expected to launch in late 2020 or early 2021. That phone will be announced by HMD Global under Nokia’s brand, of course.

Earlier this month, Nokia anew shared some info regarding the company’s device as well. The tipster said that the company’s smartphone with a foldable display is ready. If that’s the case, we don’t understand why wait until late 2020 or early 2021.

Perhaps its hardware is ready, but Nokia has plenty of work to do on the software and optimization. We can only guess at this point.

Still, if this information is accurate, and Nokia really did finish up the design of that device, that means we may get a sneak peek soon. Will Nokia bring its foldable smartphone to MWC 2020? Well, anything is possible.

The device almost certainly will not become official at MWC 2020, or anything of the sort. The company may, however, privately or publicly share some info about the device, and maybe even show off its design.

The Nokia 9.2 (PureView) is rumored to arrive after June 20

Another piece of info that the source shared regards the Nokia 9.2. According to the provided info, HMD Global may have trashed the Nokia 9.1 development, and jumped straight to the Nokia 9.2.

Why? Well, it seems like the SoC is getting an upgrade from the Snapdragon 855+, to the Snapdragon 865. That makes sense, as Nokia already made a mistake by releasing a flagship phone with a dated SoC, well… that happened several times.

In order for a device to be a true flagship in 2020, it should have a true flagship processor. According to the provided information, the phone’s display may be “bezel-less”, and a front-facing camera is also getting an upgrade from 32-megapixel to a 48-megapixel sensor.

There is still no info on rear-facing cameras, though. A 3.5mm headphone jack will not be a part of the package this time around.

Some of you are probably wondering when will the Nokia 9.2 arrive, well… if the provided info is to be believed, it will launch sometime after June 20. That means we’re in for quite a wait.

HMD Global may once again be late to the party with its new Nokia flagship. The Nokia 9.2 will probably have that ‘PureView’ branding as well, and let’s hope it will be a better overall package than the Nokia 9 PureView.
