NVIDIA and gaming go hand-in-hand, and today it’s upped the bar for refresh rates with its new display tech that was just announced at CES, G-Sync displays that come with a 360Hz refresh rate.
The company is partnering with ASUS, who will be the first brand to offer a monitor that supports the insanely fast refresh rate.
NVIDIA designed this new monitor technology with Esports in mind. So you can expect it to be fairly pricey and, it’s not likely to be the go-to monitor for most gamers. But then again that’s not NVIDA’s target market.
It’s aiming down sights at Esports pros and Esports enthusiasts as well as competitive gamers in general.
NVIDIA G-Sync Gaming at its most advanced to date
NVIDIA’s G-Sync technology is revolutionary and has helped pave the way for better gaming. The company also recognizes that things like Esports are still on a meteoric rise with no signs of slowing down.
To compete at the highest level, high-quality equipment can mean all the difference. NVIDIA says gamers will be prepared for anything as the new monitor supports game frames that refresh every 2.8ms.
That’s six times as fast as the refresh rate on “traditional gaming displays and TVs.” Meaning if you’re gaming on one of these bad boys, your experience will no doubt be smooth. With the least amount of tearing possible alongside extremely low latency.
The ASUS Rog Swift 360 will launch later this year
NVIDIA makes the display tech, but ASUS will make the monitor itself. It’s called the Swift 360 and it’ll be available at some point in 2020.
Neither NVIDIA nor ASUS have mentioned an exact release date for the monitor. There’s also been no mention of cost. But with such a high refresh rate you can bet it won’t be cheap.
As a comparison, other ROG Swift monitors that are currently available already come at a premium. For example, the ROG Swift PG27VQ is a 27-inch curved gaming monitor that comes with a 165Hz refresh rate, and it costs $700.
There are some things to keep in mind though. This new monitor is only 24.5-inches and only Full HD. This also isn’t a monitor you’d really need if you don’t have the PC components powerful enough to back it up, or play the games that support the refresh rate.
General consumers will certainly have access to the monitor. But it was definitely made more for those who take their competitive gaming extremely seriously.
