First official OnePlus Concept One teaser is here, and it touts “invisible camera” and “color-shifting glass technology”.
OnePlus shared this information via its official Twitter page. The company touts “groundbreaking” technology for this device.
The company actually added a teaser video to its tweet, so you can check out parts of the upcoming phone. This teaser video is not too revealing, of course, but it gives you a glimpse of the upcoming concept phone.
In its teaser video, OnePlus is using the “Alternate Design, Alternate Future” caption. This teaser video shows you the phone’s invisible camera setup on the back. It seems like its triple camera setup is covered by that color-shifting glass technology that the company mentioned in the description.
The OnePlus Concept One will include invisible cameras on the back… and maybe even an under-display camera
If we had to guess what this is, we’d say that those cameras will remain invisible while you’re not using them, and became visible when you are, for better clarity. It’s actually possible that OnePlus plans to use something similar for the under-display camera.
We’re not saying that this device will include an under-display camera, but it’s possible. This is a concept phone, and considering this color-shifting tech, it’s possible OnePlus will want to demonstrate an under-display camera.
This teaser video also confirms that the device will include a curved display, and an alert slider, it seems. This alert slider does look quite odd, though, if it’s an alert slider at all. If it is, it may have more than three settings. We’ll have to wait and see.
This will be a concept smartphone, as its name says. It will probably become available for purchase, but it may cost more than you think. We’re only guessing, though, as no official information has been shared just yet.
The device will become official at CES 2020
The OnePlus Concept One will become official during CES 2020 in Las Vegas. The OnePlus Concept One will show off its invisible camera setup and color-shifting glass technology between January 7 and 10, as per the company’s teaser.
OnePlus is expected to announce this concept smartphone only at CES 2020. Its OnePlus 8 series of smartphones is not expected to arrive until mid-2020, probably May.
It is quite clear that this concept phone will be made out of metal and glass, at least that’s our guess based on this teaser. It is possible that OnePlus will use higher quality materials here, like titanium or ceramic, but that’s not as likely.
The device is also expected to include an in-display fingerprint scanner, and ship with Android 10 out of the box. We’re not sure what processor will OnePlus include in the device. It seems a bit early to include the Snapdragon 865, but it all depends on when the phone will reach the market.
