According to new information from Ice Universe, a well-known tipster, Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphone will be called the Galaxy Z Flip.
That name seems way better than the ‘Galaxy Bloom’ name that surfaced recently. A recent report suggested that the upcoming clamshell foldable smartphone from Samsung will be called the Galaxy Bloom.
That report alleged that the phone will be marketed to women, and is inspired by Lancome’s compacts. That information seemed fishy from the get-go, and it seems like it was false.
The Galaxy Z Flip seems to be a way better choice for this foldable smartphone’s name
The Galaxy Z Flip name seems like a way better choice for the upcoming foldable smartphone. Although, truth be said, this name would be perfect for a tri-fold smartphone, if it ever becomes a reality.
In any case, it seems like the upcoming clamshell smartphone will not be called the Galaxy Fold 2. Samsung is probably saving that name for a true flagship foldable smartphone, which will likely arrive later in 2020.
The Galaxy Z Flip is rumored to be fueled by the Snapdragon 855, not the Snapdragon 865. That device is also expected to be considerably more affordable than the Galaxy Fold.
The Galaxy Z Flip will not be a flagship smartphone, but it will be close to it, it seems. The Galaxy Fold 2, on the other hand, is expected to arrive with the Snapdragon 865, and it will probably be more similar to the Galaxy Fold.
What do we mean by that? Well, it will probably open horizontally, like a book. The Galaxy Z Flip will open vertically, as this will be a clamshell smartphone.
This handset is expected to offer numerous design-related improvements compared to the Galaxy Fold
The Galaxy Z Flip is expected to improve upon the Galaxy Fold’s design quite a bit, and the same goes for the Galaxy Fold 2, when it arrives.
The Galaxy Fold is an extremely fragile smartphone. It comes with a plastic display, which you should not press on too hard. It also comes with a set of instructions on how to use a phone, and so on.
The Galaxy Z Flip is rumored to include a glass display, not a plastic one. That alone is a huge improvement, but it probably won’t be the only one.
This smartphone will become official on February 11, almost certainly. Samsung is expected to announce its Galaxy S20 series of flagships on that day, and everything points to the Galaxy Z Flip launch as well. If that ends up being true, we’re less than a month away from the launch event.
